The idea for using the snakey bits in alpha legion armies was pioneered by Kaleb Daark so credit where credit is due, check out his work on the forums if you can find it, this AL stomp all over mine

I disagree; not knocking Kaleb Daark - his stuff is awesome, and has some of the most original AL modelling seen - but I actually prefer your slightly cleaner style. Just my personal preference, of course.

How did you model those chains?

5 more marines done. I know its taken absolutely ages, I been a bit ill so not been motivated to paint. Cultists next!

Ok here's a test model for the cultists. "But its just a Necromunda model!" I hear you cry. I thought a lot about how I wanted to do my cultists, generally when people do cultists you either get gribbly frothing guys in black cloaks, or you get Cadians painted black.

I wanted to inject a bit more variety and realism into mine, my cultists preresent your factory workers, your gangers, the easily misled, and the power hungry. Some will go all "chaos happy" and put on the black cloaks, but I think most of the time the Alpha Legion are just going to go "Alright, here's a gun, paint some of these symbols on your armour so we dont shoot you, off you go, have fun"

So most of my cultists are a mixture of different Necro models, with Redemptionists acting as your cult leaders. Good, bad idea? Feedback as usual appreciated!

Hey that's a pretty cool idea and i really like the way you've painted her. I like the blue eyeshadow and her red hair really makes the green pop.

I've got a question about the green shirt and how you've highlighted it, mostly to expand my understanding on lighting.

The upper area of her chest is less highlighted than the lower portion. I remember reading how light acted weird on some surfaces but this is a pretty good example if it's done right.

How did I miss this blog??? It's the 1st time I have seen it.

Great work, I especially like your painted scales on the Alpha's - much better than my attempt. Kinda makes me want to re-paint my scales.

Love your use of a Necromunda model as a cultist too. Looking forward to seeing more.

The general idea was to show a very overwashed top where the colour has faded as shes worn it, sorta tiedyed :)

As for makeup , thats really up to everyones individual interpretation on what a cultist should look like, thats the great thing about this hobby. Why can't you have a cultist who looks after her appearance?

I agree wit hthe mucle definitiion, I guess I didnt really fancy doing a few more highlighting layers on it since I have 29 more to paint :D

Aren't the necromunda models a bit off scale? She looks like she'd be nearly as big as a marine.

Sadly, all the games workshop models are off scale, guardsmen are marine sized as well.

I really like the cultist especially how she is not overly chaosy more of a rebel who is one the side of chaos.

Also, the scales on your marines armor are fantastic, I especially like how they are only on parts of the armor, it's more subtle.

An interesting take on the cultists :)

When you say you're planning on another 29, you're obviously planning or more than one unit. How do you plan to differentiate between the units? Colour scheme? Necromunda gang types? Or some other, subtler marks? Or not at all?

Here's two more. Sorry about the photo quality, my camera was nearly out of juice so I had to hurry.
