tor
I was wondering if i could get your input on an idea I had at work. What do you guys think of having a shieldmaiden as one of the WGBG? Use a SoB model (not sure which yet) and give her a Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield. I really like coming up with half-baked fluff and stories and think that she would be an interesting source of a few stories and provide some nice variation to my WGBG squad. Rough idea of some fluff below. As a bloodclaw Brynhildr came to the attention of Tyr Snowclaw during a battle with the orks on Kerberos Primary. The orks were launching a counterassault against the Space Wolf position and Brynhildr's pack was caught up in a swirling melee near Wolflord Tyr's position. As her pack put down the rest of the orks Brynhildr saw an ork with a missle launcher taking aim on the Wolflord's. Grabbing a Storm Shield off a wounded warrior nearby she flung herself with the shield between the incoming missle and the Wolflord. The shield withstood the blast of the explosion and Tyr shot the offending ork. Another orkish assault saw them surrounded and Brynhildr using the Storm Shield to bludgeon orks to death. Many orks died that day. The last part is an idea I had to paint "Brynhildr's Axe" on the SS of the other WGBG. So yeah, any ideas or opinions you guys might have? Grimmwulf
Mhhh idon't know. Will she have a beard? I am always suspicious of space wolves without beards. No, just kidding. Might be a nice conversion. but you will have to do something about a sister's haircut, that just does not look wolfy. It is not really viable from a fluff perspective because fenrisian women usually don't take part in the fighting and therefore are not likely to be chosen to become a wolf (it is not SONS of russ for nothing...) but as always the general rule is that it is your army and you can do what you like with it. If I imagine a female space wolf it would look more like a bodybuilder kind of women rather than the a sister. Have fun converting and be sure to show the results here! Skrubb
It is generally accepted that only male bodies can accept the implants of the space marines. If you want a female space marine, you need some fluff sorting out this. It is probably better to assume she is NOT a space marine, but a really hard female that the iron priests have enhanced with bionics or something. If what Grimmwulf says about fenrisian women is generally true, it is possibly better to say she is an off-worlder. Maybe a sister that a wolf lord or wolf pries got in his retinue as a token of gratefulness from a monastry for something. Maybe she is the last survivor of the retinue of an inquisitor. Maybe she is even an exiled inquisitor! Logan Grimnar will not be the last man in the imperium to accomodate one like that. Find a plausible background and a plausible explanation for having space wolf stats, and more difficult, special rules. Take lightly on this last. She may not have acute senses, but the rest of the pack has anyway. Counterattack, she can learn. Ullr Direfang
another thing that would make it kinda hard is that SW and SoB don't get along very well, IIRC. i have made up a a apoc unit called "Space wolf Gate Keeper" they are kind of a shield bearer/ honor guard kind of unit. HERE what it looked like months ago. if i dig it out and find the updated version i might re-post it. Valerian
Bad idea. Call is sexist if you want, but women cannot become Space Marines; this is fully established in the fluff. If you want, build the model just for the sake of modeling it, but I would leave it at that. Grimmwulf
women cannot become Space Marines And still there are some who try. Marek Grimfang
So, we can get Valkyrie's then :P. They're the last things you'll see when you die. Women/MAidens/ aside from SoB,Eldar, Dark Eldar, do not exist in 40k. Thtas the way it is and the way it was meant to be. Grey Mage
Im using a set of seraphim as Valkyries, with a pair of flame pistol wielding superladies. The unit of five runes around 150pts, and even with S/T3 I still think they have a tactical edge over bloodclaws. Firenze
women cannot become Space Marines And still there are some who try. They paint their armour green and wear pretty dresses over it :) Dont start... I have 'teeth' too puppy... OT: I agree with Skrub. A exiled Inquisitor would be a great start to boost the background of your lord. How did she become a sheildmaiden for example. Personally, I like the "exiled inquisitor" approach, but feel free to come up with your own explanation. Argon
That's an intresting idea, mate. I'd go with it. The fluff sounds ok to me and it's a great way to tie in the Valkyr. Fine, if its like that Ill steal your barrel of ale! 'runs off giggling and carrying a barrel twice the size of me' Hee hee! Obviously got beard envy... -_- -_- You know, that's not the reaction I would expect from Sons of Russ. He stole your ale! *looks around* ....And once again, I find my Chaos-worshipping self in The Fang. I'll be leaving now. Grimfoe
It's interesting you bring this up now as I'm entering a team tournament with an ally that is playing SoB. If the force is effective, I'm thinking of designing a SoB force that would be converted to be from Fenris. They obviously wouldn't be SM's, but they could be deemed Valkyries and use the SoB list. My daughter would get a kick out of it and I thought the force could be for her to team up with me. WLK First off, the only reason why the emperor truly won the challenge was because it was Kool-aid. . . but we just said he drank ale to be fair. just make sure you grab the southern comforti if you are going to spike the "guest's ale", i am saving the tequila for when i actually do meet a female space marine ( just to be more geared to the OP).... wait.... don't DA drink water down tequila.....
