Wolf Pup emerges from the Den!

Recommended Posts

Greetings to you Wolf Brothers!

Due to the persuasion of my friends I was drawn into the wonderful world of Warhammer 40.000. After a very very long debate, reading I have opted to collect Space Wolves as my army. Why I've done that? I liked the stories, the viking feeling of the Sons of Russ, their glorious past and yet still promising future.

In real life also being a great fan of Wolves they seemed like the most natural choice. Martial Pride, Courage, Honour, Respect for the ancient traditions are what I like and they fit like a glove to my own personality as well as the Space Wolves. I've already ordered a pack of Grey Hunters, a Rhino APC and a Space Marine Captain Model to start off small. I am not sure what to put next on the list but i'd rather not rush it.

My best regards!

Bog.

PS: ARRRRWOOOOOOO!

Welcome to the Fang Whelp! Good to hear you've chosen the Space Wolves over poncy Ultrasmurfs or Dress Marines. ;) Ale's in the corner next to the roast boar and great mammoth, feel free to help yourself. Just remember to bring me back a keg of FangtwisterTM and a slab of roast mammoth, it's especially fine this time of year.

Now to the serious stuff- if you've got any questions on rules for our current book, check the links in my sig. They'll bring you to the GW and B&C FAQs. Use Searchy just to be safe, and happy posting. Oh... and don't touch the Exterminatussock... otherwise it might be this :P

*chugs down some FangtwisterTM, then gets ready to howl*

ARROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Welcome at the Fang, Whelp. Good choise to oin our rangs. Ale and roasted elk are over there *points over ito the right corner* at the Fang´s Bar´n´Grill.

A second GH or a BC pack would be a good idea. And later as a second HQ a venerable Dreadnought.

Thank you for the warm welcome Elders *bows*. I have read the tomes of lore within our great halls and now the questions are coming as a young Pup I have to ask them.

After looking upon my first squad of Grey Hunters now their Rhino comes in question. Our Codex specifies that Grey Hunters CAN be mounted in a Rhino transport for 50 points while in the regular Space Marine Codex it is listed at 35 points. Which point allocation should I use for it? The 50 point value specified in our Codex or the one in the Space Marine Codex? The FAQ states some options that are identical to those used by Codex Astartes Chapters.

Thank you once again,

Wolf Pup Bogdan

You use the current points, because all vehicles aside from the bikes come from C:SM

Thank you very much for your reply. So Rhino for 50 points.

@ Dark Bjoern - thank you for the advice. I did have in mind to acquire a Dreadnaught (Venerable) as I like those walker vehicles.

Speaking of the Dreadnaught the Space Wolves FAQ specifies that we have access to the Dreadnaught Variants (save Venerables) from the Codex Space Marines. Just to make it clear does that make we have access to Ironclad Dreadnaughts as well?

Thank you everyone for your warm welcomes and replies. I am sorry to have been such a pest with so many questions. I shall tell thee my deeds of battle as soon as my Space Wolves Great Company swells a little in number. There is little a single Grey Hunters pack and a Rhino can do!

35 points, as per Codex Space Marines.

Welcome to the Fang Whelp. I don't know if anyone else has said it, but you can ask anything, but don't ask when the new codex is coming out or Bran will whack you with the exterminattasock...and yes, he's become quite deadly with it recently. :D

So, got get yourself an ale...and..oh, while you're up, we'll all take a refill.

Welcome to the...

oh. Looks like that's been said already.

If you have any questions...

Eh? That too?

Hmm. *looks in the codex for his Initiative characteristic* Carry the one, and... yup. Stupid Powerfist.

well, at least I can mention that there's been some debate as to the points cost for Rhinos and Razorbacks. There is a discrepancy in the FAQs, with the German FAQ letting us use the cheap costs and the English one not mentioning it. I recommend checking with your playgroup, despite the consensus in this community being that we do get cheap transports. I know that my local TO made me use the SW codex costs. In this instance, I highly recommend going with Land Raiders for transport duty. I also recommend using Blood Claws.

But before we contaminate you too much, draw up a list or three and stick em up in the army list section so we can chew on it a bit. That way we get a glimmer of your playstyle before forcing our (numerous) styles down your throat.

Good to know, perhaps I can get that ruling overturned with this additional evidence.

My thanks for that Mage.

This is a direct copy/paste job from the french FAQ.

Véhicules Space Wolves: Utilisez les règles et les coûts indiqués

dans le Codex Space Marines en ce qui concerne les

Dreadnought, Rhino, Razorback, Land Speeder, Motos

To find the article yourself, go to GW France, go to 40k, itll scroll down... go to the very last one. then youll be in articles de 40k, and go down tell you find FAQ Warhhammer 40k. Go to the second section, and find Space Wolves V 5.

Its near the bottom, on the left hand side.

Yes, and the Land Raider Redeemer and the Land Speeder Storm, too.

HOW DARE YOU... ;)

seriously i want SW scouts allies.. WS and BS4 in a storm ...yes please...

Still dissapointed you chose wolves and not the Ultras.... wait what forum am i in.... :)
