Apocalypse Lords - Ironclad Chaplain Dread

Hail Brothers, I present to you my Chaplain dreadnought, which I will be using primarily as an Ironclad. I haven't put any "wear and tear" on him yet and I think that is starting to bug me. Everything in my army has wear and tear on it and I now find myself leaning towards adding some to him. It's just that he is the equivalent of a chapter master and you'd think they'd keep him looking pretty awesome. I don't know, I'll have to think on that a bit.

I kept the highlights to edges and blended it a bit, so they don't just jump out and bite you. Unfortunately, my photography skills aren't up to the level where I can show them that well. Also I need to add some heat marks on the front wings above where the flamers are, but first I thought I'd test the flamers out on a few heretics and xenos scum. :Troops:

Anyway, I love this model. Not what I've done necessarily, but the love that FW put into it. I also feel pretty strongly about the BT dread, but I need to hold the line...at least for a while...but if I ever need another Ironclad....sigh...

+++ Disclaimer +++

My chapter is led by three chaplains, called the Triarchs. Upon passing a rite to determine the strength of their faith, successful candidates return back to the chapter and become an adept of one of the Triarchs. Each Triarch is represented by one of three colors, red, white, or gold. Red is the color of Benkei, the first of the Triarchs.

So this model is of Benkei, the first Triarch, who has been entombed in dreadnought armor so that he may continue to serve his beloved Emperor.

+++ End Disclaimer +++

So that's why he isn't black.

Without further ado...

Anyway, he was a lot of fun even though the magnets ended up being a real pain in the neck.

C&C greatly appreciated. Now I am off to a couple of odd ball projects...

Cheers,

So with your Land Raiders and Dreads, what does this put the Apocalypse Lords up to points wise for the total army?

To honest, I haven't a clue...I guess I should get on that and find out.

No the other two triark Chaplains you will make later

I hadn't even thought of that...what a great idea...who's going to pay for that?...just when I think I'm getting close, somebody comes up with a brilliant idea. :woot:

Actually, I've been looking at various bits for Justinian. He's going to have a jet pack, but I'm still trying to decide whether to go with twin lightning claws or a Dai katana.

Cephas will most likely be in some nasty termie armor...now my creative juices are flowing...will this curse ever stop?

Howdy,

OK so I think you have done a magnificent job on this guy and he certainly does stand out in the dread mob you have there.

However, I can't help but think there is something missing in the overall feel or look. it may just be the pictures, so I may have to see it in person hint hint nudge nudge.

I know you are keeping true to your vision and I definitely approve, however...

It might be that it needs a stronger shade or highlight to give it some vavoom!

And knowing full well how long it takes me to finish anything, it should all be taken with the usual " grain of Imperial salt" :HQ:
