Looking for Witch Hunters specific sites

Recommended Posts

There are several out there. They're mostly failed attempts though.

There is a MSN Sister of Battle forum, but that tends to only get spam these days. I tried creating one but there just isn't enough people interested in a pure SoB forum. The SoB Yahoo group still gets a fair few messages, but a message group is no substitute for a properly laid out forum.

I think Crayoneater used to have a website.

But in short, this sub forum has the best info that you can find on SoB.

Your only other option is to brave the billion page single thread on Warseer.

Hey now, there's nothing wrong with liking or even preferring some of the non-power armor units of the Witch Hunters Codex.

Yes, the Sisters themselves are power armored, and loaded for bear! But I've gotten a LOT of enjoyment from using lots of the non-powered armored units at our disposal, and still have fun and do decently well to boot.

As for this site, it is one of the better if not the best collection for Inquisitorial knowledge on the 40K tabletop I've ran into. The Inquisition forums are what got me to register, and I imagine I'm not the only player in this situation.

Yes, I own some Space Marines, Sisters and Grey Knights... but it's my Inquisitor that really drew me into 40K.

Well.. that and some Seraphim.. and a group of die hard guardsmen veterans and stormtroopers.

Sisters drew me into 40K. No offense, but I wish the Inquisition was never, EVER added to tabletop 40K. My rants can probably be found in various places, but suffice it to say, they didn't even make them into worthy units IMO.

That's your opinion, but all of your responses have not addressed the OP's question. I prefer an Ecclesiastic army as opposed to a Witch Hunter's army, but that is no reason to dis someone else's tastes. As a concerned other member, please stop ranting.

I believe what the OP is seeking for is a good idea. I've found the best articles ever have come from Advanced Tau Tactica (a Tau only forum) where their standard of quality for articles rivals that of Silent Reqium's Water Warrior article. I come here because there is regular discussion, but I too believe dedicated forums produce the best results.

If you find something worthy in your searches, please post back.

I think the question you should ask yourself, OP, is why it is you are looking for a WH site in the first place. I mean, think about it: right here in the B n' C we have some of the best and brightest that the internet has to offer in terms of Witch Hunters... it might take a little looking to find the diamonds amongst all the crystals, but they're/we're here!

Also, power armour is awesome :) Who wouldn't want to walk around in a badass suit that just screams "I'm a total Badass!" ? Inquisitors are cool without it, though they are damn-near just as awesome with it ;)

@Senseilord: You don't have to "like" power armour to take part in productive, meaningful discussions about the Witch Hunters here in the Ordos Inquisition forum of the B&C.

The Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters got added to the B&C because the Chambers Militant of those codexes are power-armoured forces, so the board admins decided that these armies fall under the B&C mission statement.

But that does not mean that discussion of non-PA units are disallowed. Far from it. In this forum, all things Inquisition are fair game. So while you cannot discuss Imperial Guard army lists, you can talk about using inducted IG in DH/WH armies. You can even show off your IG models here! (Provided, of course, that they would be legal as inducted IG in an Inquisition army.) Discussion of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers is common here and strongly encouraged. Again, show off your models! Inquisitors are not usually power-armoured, nor are assassins, priests, arco-flagellants, etc, but they're all fair game here in the OI.

IMHO, this subforum is the Internet's best Inquisition resource. You are not required to approve or enjoy or visit any parts of the B&C that don't interest you. But pull up a chair, bring your codex, models, and paints, and get ready to debate the finer points of playing the two best armies in 40K.

...and this forum really is the place to be.
...and I'd have to agree. By my reckoning this is the best for all things =][=.

Additionally it's one of the friendliest as well, whether it be the mods or members, it rare that serious hostilities break out.

I do think that it's gone a bit quiet of late round these parts though, seems like some of the old regulars have moved onto other projects in the absence of new/updated rules... not that you can blame them...

Speaking for myself, I am actively playing a 2nd army on top of my DH, which does dilute my time and interest somewhat. But more than that, "real life" has seriously upped its time requirements. C'est la vie.

But this forum is still my favorite place to be on the internet. :)

Frankly, I'm looking forward to hearing how the membership incorporates the new IG rules into their =I= armies. It's not anything I have traditionally had any interest in, but I know several of you do so with relish. There's no reason for us to be slow with this kind of massive change to our rules!

Consider the gauntlet thrown....

Well, I must say that the new IG codex has drawn me back to the =I=... Strangely, though, after looking at all my unpainted minies, I got a renewed interest for pure SoB and pure GK forces! On my table right now: Inquisitor Rex and a GK LR. In the mail: SoB rhino doors and a repressor!

Quite frankly, I understand the OP's liking for pure Ecclesiastic forces. Arcos, assassins, Priest and Penitent Engines are awesome models. Whatever suits your =I= wants, this forums is the best. If you're really looking for other sources, Librarium Online has 2 sub-forums also.

Phil

Evening all. It would seem that my wee conversational handgrenade will need explaining. I'll try to be quick about it so we can all get back to our families:

"So why are you into Sisters if you don't like power armor? Sisters ARE a power armor army. Unless you're saying you're into the inquisition without actually being intereted in the meat, bones, and muscle of the codex?"

I'm not into sisters.

I'm into the Ordo Hereticus and the more Ecclesiastic aspects. I like the terrifing Theocracy that the average citizen of the Imperium lives in and how their thoughts and actions are policed. Although Sisters are obviously a Ministorum force, they don't have a place in the charactor of my army.

"Why are you at this site of all places? "

My first army was Alpha Legion and I do have a small Relictors force that I sometimes skirmish with. I have used Power Armour armies but I prefer playing the underdog forces.

At heart I'm a Guardsman.

I also have found Bolter And Chainsword to be an extremely useful site for fluff, painting/modeling tips and, memorably, a horrendously nerdish but horrendously fun 'in charactor' discussion of the Inquisition in this very subforum.

"Who wouldn't want to walk around in a badass suit that just screams "I'm a total Badass!" ?"

Yeah that's totally true but I'm afraid i'm a bit of a purist about such things. If the the number of P.A. forces I come across on games night were representive of the numbers actually around, the galaxy would be reconquored by a week Thursday (allowing for warpspace time dialation).

Though, to be fair, I rarely use plasma weapons either.

number6 : I totally agree. As I've said above , B&C is an excellent forum and is based around P.A. armies. Many people quite sensibly use them. I just can't seem to find a) a pure Inquisition site B )a half dencent, non-P.A. biased site.

Oh, and humour a technophobe; what does OP mean?

The Sisters ARE the ecclesiastical army. While the Ecclesiarchy does whip up militias and mobs of citizens to do wars of faith, the only standing army of the Ecclesiarchy are the Sisters of Battle.

Saying "I'm into the Ecclesiarchy, not the Sisters", is like saying "I'm into Imperial Guard Infantry, not Infantry Platoons". Gives me a reaction like "wait what? O.o"

I will as soon as I get my copy of the codex. Haven't yet, though, lack of money...
No lack of PC or internet access though.......if you catch my drift...;)

I'm too much of a law abiding citizen to do that, you know ;)

@Senseilord Ashahara: OP is a reference to "original poster" or "original post" I believe...

@number6: I too have been suffering from a lack of time... my fiancé is like, 33 weeks pregnant, due next month, and has been confined to mostly bed rest for the last half year or so. Sooo... I've been running ragged doing various house chores, work, and the like taking care of myself and the two existing children. Needless to say gaming and painting have been packed up in boxes for some time *chuckles*

I have been, however, considering dropping either my Retributors or my Grey Knight Terminators from my mixed Inquisition list in favor of one of the new Imperial Guard Infantry Platoons. I don't have the models for a Heavy Weapons Team yet (I loves the autocannons, I do...), but getting three or four additional scoring troops units for about 200 points is a bargain. I could, theoretically, get 3 infantry squads, a platoon command squad, and then either a 4th squad or a heavy weapons team for about 350 points, eeriely similar to the cost of 5 GKT's.

I've also considered dropping some of my assassins to help pay for said platoon. The concentration of expendible bodies as well as the new ability to take heavy weapon squads as a troops choice and an inducted choice has me drooling!

I'm still going to use my Inquisitorial Storm Troopers for fluff's sake, although with the new IG hellguns really altering the status quo, I'm not sure how much confusion they're going to cause. Oh well... they look really neat!

Here's hoping we'll get some AP3 goodness down the pipe ;)
