And a Barrel of Ale
Hello Brothers, I am a new recruit from the far off mystical lands of Australia (yes i do ride a Kangaroo to work :D ) Due in partly to Dawn of War 2, and the adventures of Ragnar Blackmane and friends a big bunch of mates and i have started playing Warhammer 40k, and of course i chose to play Space Wolves, i mean how could i not.... I had gotten a headstart to planning an army of sorts, (i didnt find Bolter and Chainsword until afew days ago) and i am definately open to suggestion /feedback about my proposed list, but its something taht i think might serve me well. (in my head @least ;) ) After reading the entire Ragnar Blackmane series, i just had to play Ragnar's Company, and all i have worked out so far is a rough 1500 army (sorry Ragnar old buddy, you didnt quite make the points cutoff for this one)so here goes. HQ Wolf Priest on a Bike with Healing Balms and Metla bombs Wolf Guard Battle Leader, with Frost Blade and Stormshield Elites 5x Wolf Scouts with 4x Snipers and 1x Missle Launcher with Camo Cloaks 4x Wolf Scouts with 2x Plazma Pistol and 1x Metla gun and Kracks OBEL squad Troops 6x Greyhunters with frags a 5x Truegrit and 1x Plazmagun dedicated Razorback transport (hunterkiller missle) 6x Greyhunters with frags a 5x Truegrit and 1x Plazmagun dedicated Razorback transport (hunterkiller missle) 9x Blood Claws with 1x Flamer, 2x powerweapon and frags dedicated Rhino transport (WGBL is rideing along with these guys) Fast Attack 5x Blood Claw Bikers 1x flamer 2x powerfist (Wolfpriest is rideing along with these badboys) 2x Landspeeder with Multimetla and assault cannon Heavy Support 2x Predator Destructor with heavy bolters (hunterkiller missle) There it is, i dunno how this is gunna go but its a start, i have got a start on the painting, and have painted the 2 greyhunter packs and my Ragnar Blackmane(which i will use for the WGBL for 1500 games) and 1 predator, oh and i have my sniper scouts still sitting in their box atm. Im thinking for expansion to higher level games, i would add a landraider for Ragnar and his bloodclaw squad, and maybe some more greyhunters or landspeeder/bikes. But yea.... any suggestions comments are welcome, and i will see you around the feast table brothers, ill try to keep some ale and roast for you, but i cant make any promises :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167739-fresh-meat-for-the-grinder/ Share on other sites

Hfran Morkai
Welcome to the Fang. Take an ale, I'm sure there's gotta be a full barrel somewhere. If not I'll just have to brew my home specialty or you could ask for Bran Scalphunter's special brew. That's strong stuff!! With regards to your army list it is too early in the moring for me to review it, maybe later!! And a Barrel of Ale
I hail from the harsh jungles of deathworld Queensland. and your right clanfield, i must have had too much to drink before posting a WGBL with nothing else on him. and the extra punch of powerfists, instead of powerweapons on the bloodclaws is probably a good idea. but drop the hunterkillers, rly? i thought with the hunterkillers, the OBEL scouts and the multimetla's on the landspeeders, i would have enough anti armour not to have to worry about getting lazcannons on the predators and again, i know im new, but whats the difference between greyhunters with truegrit, and with just bolters? i thought it just made them alot better in CC, if charged. Wolf Guard Hengist
Greetings Wolf Brother and Welcome to the Fang Thats not a bad list for a first timer with a little bit of tweaking it can be even better. I second the adivse on dropping the Hunterkiller missiles they dont ever seem to be worth the points and do anything worth while. One thing I would do is drop the Powerweapons on the Blood Claws and replace them with Powerfists, the reason why is Beserk charge. Because now in 5th edition you cant get a bonus attack by having just one powerfist there isnt many Troop level guys that can get more than 2 attacks with the powerfist on a charge. However your blood claws can rack up 3 attack on the charge with a Powerfist which in my book is absolutely awesome. I like Land Speeders but I like attack bikes better although they cant carry as many weapons they just seem to be a little bit tougher and they are so small they can hide behing pretty much anything. My Mulitmelta attack bike is always my star player when it comes to tank busting and making a last minute dash to contest an objective, I'd give one a try. The last thing I'd do is try to fit a meltagun on the blood Claw bikers but other than that I like your list and it hould serve you well. clanfield
true grit is altermaticly there so you need the bolters to utilise it also when the plasma gun fires there stuck so the bolters let the rest support the plasma gunner hunter killers are one shot wonders even one pred up graded would give more fire power ,and remember ar vl 14 is a tough nut to crak with str 8 wepons the meltas are fine wepons but they may struggle to get on target with back up youll win with out you may lose your next battle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167739-fresh-meat-for-the-grinder/#findComment-1977462 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
My only problem with HK missiles is that Ive never damaged anything with them except for a single tactical marine. And a Barrel of Ale
Thanks for the advice, i know the landspeeders do cost more, but they can fit the extra weapon, and they can run double multimetlas, or the multi/assault or heavy/assault... im just not sure... casue in retrospect the attackbikes get 2 wounds and toughness 5... gah i dunno and very true point about the powerfists, coupled with my WGBL with a frostblade and SS means that squad will be quite nasty and do you really think i should use the a metla on the bikers, instead of the flamer? but yea loveing the feedback, i wanted to make a good balanced army that i can just add bits to take it up to the higher points costs, like a landraider, and some more bikers/greyhunters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167739-fresh-meat-for-the-grinder/#findComment-1977542 Share on other sites
