I ran my normal list: Wolf Lord w/Storm Claw retinue Rune Priest Wolf Priest Grey Slayers x9 w/WGPL meltagun x2 powerfist Grey Slayers x9 w/WGPL meltagun x2 powerfist Grey Slayers x9 w/WGPL plasmagun x2 powerweapon Fenrisian wolf pack x10 Storm Claw bike pack x2 w/WGPL From memory he ran the following: Abba with termies in Land Raider 2 Dreads 1 squad of Zerkers in rhino 1 squad of 1k Sons in rhino w/doombolt and ??? 1 20man csm squad 1 10 man csm squad 1 squad possessed w/rending 1 predator So we had to go Spearhead with 4 objectives. Objectives were one right in the middle of the board, one in his deployment zone, one in mine, and one adjacent to mine. I went first and deployed my plasmagun squad in some ruins with one of the objectives then put rune priest w/meltagun squad just outside of 12" no man zone in middle of board in some trees. I dropped the rest into reserve to outflank. He deploys whole army with land raider in center, rhinos flanking, dreads flanked on each side up front, possessed in middle ahead of land raider, predator on outside flank, and 20 man CSM foot slogging behind one dread and 10 man csm slogging behind the other. Turn 1: I do nothing. He moves entire army towards middle. Takes shots at my forward placed melta gun squad. Some die, some make saves. Turn 2: I roll for outflank and get wolf priest with other melta gun squad on the board from my edge and get them behind some terrain giving chaos guy no LOS. Rune priest fails psychic test to gate behind armor. Nothing else. He continues to move everything forward again. Land Raider fails difficult terrain test trying to enter center of board terrain and immobilized. He fires again on closest squad taking one or two. Turn 3: Roll for outflank and get my bikes and Wolf Lord with retinue all coming in on my board edge. Bikes turboboost up long side of his board edge towards predator. I fire bolters from closest squad to his possesed and plink 2. He now moves all his army up again and fires again on closest melta gun squad and now plasmagun squad in ruins taking another two or so. Predator fires on bikes and does nothing. One dread fire frenzies on zerker rhino and misses both rounds of shots with a twn-lnkd lascannon on side armor....hahaha! Turn 4: At last my wolves show up and run them towards combat. Rune priest and melta gun squad move out of cover to get with 6" of advancing dread. I move wolf lord and retinue towards advancing 1k Son rhino. Move wolf priest up and on cover to fire on his 10 man csm. Move bikes 12" towards pred to get within 6". Rune priest melta squad pops closest dread with a penetrating 6. Bikes fry predator with a pentrating 5. Plasmagun squad pops another two possessed but one plasma gun fries himself. Wolf priest melta squad opens up on 10 man csm breaking them. Fall back within 6" of my bikes so dont regroup. 10 man csm squad runs off table. He moves entire army forward again. Deploys Abba and termies from LR moves them towards main combat. Fires on plasma gun squad and rune priest melta squad dropping 1 or 2 more. Assaults my rune priest squad with his possessed taking 2 of mine and I take 2 of his, tied combat. Turn 5: Wolf lord and retinue moves towards 1k Sons rhino but just out of charge range. Wolf priest with melta squad move out of terrain to get within 6" of last dread. Wolves move forward towards zerkers rhino. Bikes head back towards wolf priest to support. Wolf lord retinue uses plasma pistols to nail 1k sons rhino into not moving or shooting next turn. Wolf priest and meltas hit dread but only cause a immoblized and no shoot/no move next turn. Plasma gun squad in ruins pops zerker rhino with a penetrating 6, killing 2. Wolf priest with melta squad charge dread, wolves charge now disembarked zerkers. Wolf priest melta bomb knocks dread ccw off, WGPL powerfist finished job with penetrating 5. Wolves kill 2 zerkers but lose 4. Don't break from combat. Rune Priest and melta squad finish off possessed. Moves Abba and termies towards Wolf Priest squad. Moves 20 man csm towards rune priest squad. Disembarks 1k sons from rhino. Fires on rune priest squad, fries his plasma gun, but kills all by rune priest and one melta gunner. 1k Son open up with inferno shells knocking a wound off wolf lord and blasting retinue down to WGPL with power weapon/plasma pistol and plasma pistol/ccw Storm Claw. Shots from LR on plasma gun squad kill one. Wolves kill another zerker, but lose 4. Wolves break and run towards table edge but wont regroup due to 1k sons being within 6". Abba and termies charge wolf priest and melta squad killing 4. In return I get one wound on Abba and wipe out his termies. I win, Abba is fearless, fails no retreat save, and Abba has 2 wounds left. Roll to end game, game goes on. Turn 6: Bikes move into position assist on assault with Abba. Wolf lord with retinue moves towards 1k sons. Rune priest gates with melta gunner across board into his deployment zone near an objective and doesn't scatter. Plasma gun squad lights up zerkers knocking two more down. Retinue lights up 1k Sons with plasma pistols and drops one. Wolves run off table. Wolf Lord and retinue charge 1k Sons and kill all but 3, no losses in return. Bikes charge Abba in combat with wolf priest squad. Abba kills all of melta squad but WGPL and wolf priest. Return wolf priest attacks do two wounds, Abba saves both. Between bike power fist and WGPL powerfist, Abba ends up needing to make 8 inv saves and fails 4, bye bye Abba. He starts to pull 20 man csm squad back to try and regain objective. LR fires on bikes vaporizing one with lascannon. Zerkers charge wolf priest, but die to wolf priest and wgpl without killing anyone. Roll to end game, game goes on. Turn 7: I split rune priest from squad and move him towards incoming 20 man csm squad to hold them in combat away from objective. Melta gun guy moves into cover next to objective. I split wolf priest from melta squad and move him towards 20 man csm and moving WGPL to contest center objective with his LR. Bikes move up to pop LR. Bikes knock off a lascannon on LR. Lone melta gunner is within 6" of LR and rolls a 1 to hit..... ;) Wolf lord and retinue finish off 1k Sons. Rune priest assaults 20 man csm killing a few but dying to some craptastic saving throws. He moves 20man csm squad towards melta gunner. Fires on him hoping to kill to kill to get me off objective, doesnt wound and doesnt roll enough to assault into cover. Game over. 13th Co claims one objective and contests 2. Chaos claims zero objectives and contests two. WIN!! I keep forgetting to roll my d3 attacks for MotW though which is pretty dumb.
