I'm Back and I Have Pics

Ok so well some of you guys noticed I haven't been around well... at all for the last month or two and that's mostly due to the proverbial refuse hitting the fan over on Tau Online, another forum I frequent and generally being busy in real life. Now I have a few weeks before summer sessions pick up and I managed to get some painting done, finishing my second 15 man Blood Claw Pack to be more precise which more or less finishes the Company bar an Iron Priest and two Blood Claws toting flamers. So I decided that if I'm going to make an "I'm Back" thread I might as well do something epic...ish so here's a ton of pics:

Blood Claws Staggered:

So yea, hopefully I'll be around more often again and I hope you guys liked the pics and as you can see... I really need to get more tanks. :)

Now I hope nobody tapped into my ale rations while I was away. ;)

One question

Homemade. The model bearing the banner is just a Wolf Guard Standard Bearer model but the banner itself is made purely from Green Stuff. A thin sheet of GS stretched into the rough shape of the pelt and draped over the standard, left to dry for 6 hours or so and then I applied another layer of GS to the back of the first layer and just cut at it repeatedly with a wet knife to form the fur. The claws are just crude bits of GS rolled into the rough shape and stuck into place. Not too fancy but I'm very pleased with the result and it was quite easy. I used the same technique for all the GS pelts in my army, most notably on the Terminators.

Lookin good vash.... I see sons of dorn that could use a bulking up.... but it looks like youve got quite the combined arms force there. Well done :).

Yea, those are just the painted ones, I've got half a Battle Company of marines that used to be Blood Ravens (back when the Chapter actually had decent rules) fresh from the tubs of Simple Green and awaiting Primer, 30 Tactical Marines, 6 Assault Marines, 5 Bikes, 1 Attack Bike, 5 Command Squad Marines a PA Captain, Chaplain, 12 Devastators in two units and a Land Speeder. I've just been putting off priming them while I figure out how to strip my Baneblade, blasted wind chill ruining primer coat!

In any case when I do get them finished it will bring my Marines up to about 384 in number though I really need to invest in more armor.

Nice, very nice...

How did you get the golden look on the breast plates?

It's nothing special actually, just a coat or two of shining gold over simple black primer, it's just not overdone or covering large areas so I didn't get into complicated multi-layer coloring.

Thats a full company of smurfs isnt it?

Wich one is it?

Almost, it needs 9 more Assault Marines, but yes Fang head is right it is the 5th Company though the color scheme isn't 100% accurate, most of the bolter casings are silver rather than red and the trims are gold rather than black like they should be for the 5th. The Ultras were my first Space Marine army and I laid out the paint scheme before I really knew too much about proper markings and things like that and it's too many models to go back and change now though at times I'm tempted. Then there's about 22 1st Company Veterans, Calgar and Honor Guard, Tigurius, some tanks, Techmarine, Librarian, and a Chaplain. I also have Sicarius, Tellion and 5 Scouts that are still to be painted and aren't in the pic. One of these days I'll get around to adding the last 9 Assault Marines but for now I'm focusing on getting my Guard up and working properly and adding to my Space Wolves, I want to mechanise them eventually though as you can see right now they're almost pure infantry.

It looks like it might be the 5th company. And very nice looking models. Good to have you back.

Hopefully those Tau haven't been giving you too much trouble. Just say the word and we'll get together a nice little warband and mess them up. :P

Thanks, and thanks also for the Warband offer. I appreciate it. :P

Very nice selection there Vash - a worthy force for the Emperor.

I would agree with you about armour being a worthy investment. Truely the enemies of the Emperor fear his armoured fist! Though with 11 Tanks, I might be biased...

Thats ok, I love my armor too, when the Baneblade came out I had to get one, and my first Army was a mechanised one. I just managed to get a bunch of second hand marines but no tanks over a short period of time and have yet to build up my armor to match.

This army is a blasphemy to a loyal wolf of the Iron Wolf.....but yeah, good number of painted models. Must be nice being able to field a full 15k of models in an apoc game by yourself :D I'm only up to about 9k myself

Anywho, welcome back Vash! Ale's in the cellar, watch out for the orky Bran and the chaos children that seem to have started following him around. Also, as a codicer, please take a look at Wolf Scout! would love to hear any critiques you have!

Totally diggin' the hand painted pack and company markings!

I'm glad you liked them, when I started my wolves they were second hand models so I had no transfers and had to come up with easily paintable symbols.

It is good but unfortunately I don't get to do it very often. :)
