You know what would be cool? SW Venerable Ironclad Dread

Recommended Posts

I can think of no cooler prospect than a venerable Space Wolves Ironclad-class Dreadnought drop-podding into the fray, his Great Company cannonballing into the enemy at his command.

:P

Ooooh, if only they'll keep the HQ dreadnoughts in the new codex! Oh if only Ironclads could be HQs!

/out

I'm kinda vaguely hoping the Bjorn will be a Venerable/Ironclad hybrid. It would set him apart nicely the way a Special Character Dreadnought should...

But what we'll actually get... Who knows... Russ will reveal all when it is time...

Well, if they remove the retinues rule and dreads as HQ's (as I think they will, just seems too complex for 5th <_< :eyeroll: )it wouldnt really matter, as the ven will still be elites and 0-1 as now. But Id like to have Ven Dreads as HQ stay, saves me a precious elites slot :P

Id hate it if Bjorn had a ironclad status/loadout. I rather enjoy his traditional AC+HvyFlamer. Now I wouldnt turn down the armor 13... and I think thats alot more likely than the dratted *HES A LANDRAIDER! WOOOOT!* junk Ive been hearing.

But the option to take a venerable ironclad? Sounds just fine- after all, BA can have a venerable deathcompany furioso.

I would much rather see Bjorn get some sort of special rule that represented his iconic status within the chapter as opposed to the rather boring option of just an improved statline.

Some interesting options could be:

Link to the Past: Bjorn the Fell-Handed is a living icon to the Space Wolves and as such his preservation is vital to the chapter. If Bjorn is destroyed or immobilized his position becomes an objective as defined in the Seize Ground mission and whichever force controls his position at the end of the battle gains an extra victory point.

Seen It All Before: After 10,000 years of battle Bjorn has witnessed pretty much every battlefield tactic imaginable and has an uncanny ability to read a battlefield. Bjorn may be moved up to 12" after both players have deployed but before the battle begins. This special movement may not take him outside if his normal deployment zone and does not affect his ability to move on turn one.

Did I Tell You About The Time ...: It is said that Bjorn can recall every detail of every battle in his 10,000 year history and he uses this information to regale the troups around him, unfortunately not all of the stories are motivational and some are irrelevent, bawdy or otherwise distracting. Roll a D6 at the start of the game. On the roll of a 1-2 the story is distracting and all Space Wolves within 12" of Bjorn fight at -1 to their initiative. A roll of 3-4 means the tale has no effect and a roll of 5-6 means the tale is highly inspirational and all Space Wolves within 12" fight at +1 to their initiative. One Space Wolf within 12" may try to convince Bjorn to change story at the start of each Space Wolf turn, if the Space Wolf passes a leadership test reroll on the story table, if they fail then Bjorn is confused and may not act during that turn (but the story continues to be told).

The third one is a bit tongue in cheek but it could be fun.

That is freaking hilarious ... :)

I love these, great work. I swear by my ironclad now so would really appreciate a venerable version, but I hope Bjorn keeps his old weapon combo and gets some inidivdual rules to represent his age and knowledge. We can hope for 'Did I tell you about the Time' though...

Bjon, if made by me, would be a Ven Ironclad with a Lightning claw/HF Arm and a LC/AC arm. -Yes and Undermounted AC in place of a Melta gun. This model would have to be slightly taller and bulkier but would be awsome. As far as Special rules and stats he'd be a special character in a dread. - WS 6, 4 attacks, ect...

Then some old and wise type rule, a hard to kill type rule. (Though stay at AV 13 as I think it's appropriate.) I try not to wishlist much but Bjorn would be a terror with an AC, HF, and Dreadnaught Lightning claws.
