Seth the Dark
I am thinking of running a WH Inq in my mech WH army which consists of mostly Sister Units. How would you go about configuring the Inq and retinue? Shooty? CC? Both? Peredyne
Give the WHI a specific role and tailor his equipment and retinue to that role. Don't try to make him do both. The WHI that can do both can't do either of them well enough to justify his cost. I would give the WHI a power weapon, inferno pistol, 2 acolytes with mancatchers, 2 crusaders and 2 chiurgeons for a CC WHI. DinoDoc
I would give the WHI a power weapon, inferno pistol, 2 acolytes with mancatchers, 2 crusaders and 2 chiurgeons for a CC WHI. CC WH IQ IQ Lord: Eviscerator; Rosarius 2 Acolytes w/ mancatchers 2 Crusaders 2 Chiurgeons Equals out to be 185 pts + w/e you feel like spending on a transport. If you are spending the points on an IQ though, I would heavily consider getting an assassin to go with it. panbient
I am thinking of running a WH Inq in my mech WH army which consists of mostly Sister Units. How would you go about configuring the Inq and retinue? Shooty? CC? Both? what's your reason for including an inquisitor? assassin, orbital bombardment, or land raider? either way, trying to combine both CC and shooty is wasted points. a WH inquisitor just doesn't really cut it in CC unless points are not an issue and you just REALLY want to obliterate an IC psyker with a force weapon. a jump pack CC based canoness is far more effective at IC killing plus you won't get a retinue close enough without a LR. a shooty inquisitor and retinue can provide some serious anti-infantry at a range that most regular sisters just don't get. 3 HB servitors and 3 acolytes with SBs can lay down some serious fire on anything within 24". if you want to go pricey you could replace a HB with a plasma cannon and get 2 sages to tag along. i usually use a shooty retinue as a very scary meat shield for whatever IST squad i choose to have babysitting my home base objective. Maharajah
If you're going to use a LR, try: Inquisitor with combi-plas 3x veteran guardsmen with plasma 3x acolytes with combi-plasma This is a one-trick pony, but the trick is a pretty good one! Drive the LR up to within 12", jump out the front and blaze away with 14 plasma shots. If you're not shooting at something pretty hard, you've wasted your time. WarriorFish
Well, Seth could easily just want an =][= for fluff reasons, you don't have to take on for the LR etc. Going with SoB then you've got the holy trinity covered, so why not equip them with plasma? I think Maharajah's idea is a little excessive and points heavy, but some Veteran IG with plasma are pretty good. Add another retinue model or two and you've got a small but effective unit. Reclusiarch Darius
Don't go for close-range shooty retinues, they die too quickly. The WH Lord can be a fantastic MC killer and character assassin, with the right equipment and retinue. Hence I'd go for; Hereticus Lord, eviscerator, 'His Will Be Done' 3 x Crusaders, 3 x Acolytes w/power armour+man-catchers, 2 x Chiurgeons, 3 x Familiars (256 points) Now you may baulk at the points cost, but this unit eats MC's and characters. With 'Iron Will' they also make a fantastic tarpit for dangerous heavy infantry (ie with power weapons/powerfists), holding them up while you move in other units to kill them (Exorcists, Canoness etc).
