theredcorsair
If from far away it looks like it the paint was put on thick, then it must have been put on really thick. To be more constructive, try applying your paints in 2-3 thin layers. Â was thinking that as well, also on the back of the dread is it the flash from the camera that made it's back look white? theredcorsair
Now that I look at it, the squad doesn't look that heavy, but if it looks overpainted thats a problem still. marshall Egregorius
ok...how so? (as in overpainted) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168203-my-marines/#findComment-1983657 Share on other sites
Fausto2071
possibly too many layers? oh, for a more 'realistic' look for the metal, use boltgun metal for the metal parts, and then highlight with chainmail, and then a wash of badab black : ) Â how did you go about painting em M.E.? marshall Egregorius
well he goes something.  black  basecoat black spray  chaos black layer  red:  mechrite red then blood red  gold:  scorched brown thin layer then shining gold. then (mabe - can't remeber atm) thin wash of flesh wash  silver/metal = chainmail.  green = narloc then goblin green. Fausto2071
hmm I think thats pretty good, maybe it is the varnish then that makes the pics look like they're thick~is it a spray on varish or brush on? Fausto2071
fersher, if you have an ebay account you can pick up marines by them selves and can get a squad of ten for 17$ (sans back packs, bases, and arms) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168203-my-marines/#findComment-1983692 Share on other sites
