Ixidor10024
I have been browsing these forums for quite awhile now, but this is my first time I have ever posted on here. Hopefully this log motivates me to finally finish an army. I have been painting warhammer minis for about seven years now, and in those seven years I have never had a fully painted army. I kept on running into the problem that I was getting bored with painting the same thing over and over so I would move on to other projects rather than finish what I had already started. But I figured it was time to change that with a nurgle chaos marine army. About two years ago I was playing just vanilla space marines but I got bored with them and figured the easiest way to change armies was to just go with chaos. But also rather then just use some converted marines as chaos marines, I decided that in my armies fluff, fully half the chapter went renegade and destroyed the other half. To show this I modeled marine causalities and equipment onto the bases and painted them in my old chapter's colors. There is a lot of fluff that I need to flesh out but the jist of it is that my marines worship the despair aspect of nurgle with out quite taking on the bloated and rotting look of many other plague marines. Also, as part of their worship, they burn all of the nerve endings in their bodies making them unable to feel anything and causing them to exist in a state of constant numbness. Because I think the fluff is cool, and because that I find plague marines better then simply nurgle marked marines, I will be fielding all the squads as plague marines. Also, did I mention how dumb I think the rules for icons in squads is? But anyways, enough of the boring stuff on onto the pics. First up is the first completed squad http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00076-20090510-1941.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00078-20090510-1943.jpg I know spawn are not amazing in game, but I really enjoyed building and painting this model http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00075-20090510-1941.jpg And finally I have my converted defiler, Its done being built for the most part and just needs a coat of paint on it. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00073-20090510-1939.jpg For the power armor, I decided to go for ease of painting and quickness rather than painstakingly pick out ever edge and crevice by hand. To do this I relied entirely on dry brushing and washes, which I also feel makes the armor look streak and perfect for the followers of nurgle. Well thats all for now but I should have pics of my termi squad Im working on up in a day or two. And as always, comments are welcome. Drudge Dreadnought
I like it. Simple and elegant. The defiler is looking good too, but you've still got some mold lines on it. The spawn's pose gives it a lot of personality too. theredcorsair
This is very nice, but I suggest you add some red to those little evil plastic men to give them some... ummm... pizzaz! Ixidor10024
May I ask what you used for the defilers "head"? I think they are supposed to be two tau sensors form what I believe is the Apocalypse vehicle upgrade sprue, but put next to each other. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/vehicleupgradeww1.jpg Also I plan on painting all day today, so I should hopefully have my squad of terminators done by the end of the day Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168209-from-the-light-of-the-emperor-into-the-arms-of-nurgle/#findComment-1984142 Share on other sites

Lord Humongous
I expect a lot of people will object to your defiler being so much smaller / lower profile a target than the stock model, at least in competitive games. Cedric
Just mount the defiler on top of a base with a pile of rotting waste/corpses and you should be fine =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168209-from-the-light-of-the-emperor-into-the-arms-of-nurgle/#findComment-1984289 Share on other sites
Ixidor10024
well actually Im planning on putting the defiler onto the largest of the crashed space ship pieces from the 4th ed starter set, which should hopefully make it more in line size wise as the stock model. Also, the picture of the squad really doesn't show it too well, but I actually used red as an accent color on most of the models. Like all the top knots are red as well as the eyes and the plasma gun coils. Also, here is a teaser at my terminator squad. I normally paint all my marines in batches but I got carried away with this one and finished it before the other 4 which should be done in a few hours. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00079-20090510-1945.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168209-from-the-light-of-the-emperor-into-the-arms-of-nurgle/#findComment-1984357 Share on other sites
Ufthak
The head of the Spawn looks somehow..."fly-ish"...goes well with Nurgle...and I like that. DuskRaider
Very nice!!! I love the paint scheme, it's simple but effective. I love the white, and that Defiler is sweet! Very nice conversion. Ixidor10024
Well I dident really do that much as far as painting goes today, but Im planning on making a 7 man squad of chosen and I decided to do the whole doghouse style thing with the legs. So as far as pics go, all I have for today is this. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00093-20090513-0045.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168209-from-the-light-of-the-emperor-into-the-arms-of-nurgle/#findComment-1986153 Share on other sites
Ixidor10024
Another nightly update. I dident do anything too major today, just worked some more on the gothic style legs. I also started on a greater demon/ demon prince conversion, but it is still a long way from finished as I have a lot more sculpting I need to do. Also the picture is kinda crappy, but I promise Ill get better pics up once I have some more work done on him. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/Ixidor10024/IMG00094-20090513-2044.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168209-from-the-light-of-the-emperor-into-the-arms-of-nurgle/#findComment-1987282 Share on other sites
