Chaos Lord Shamrockius
Hey guys (and girls, I know you're out there too...), For my Black Legion, I've started messing with all the original Traitor Chapters starting with a Dark Apostle of sorts who will be primarily just a squad champion. It's my first foray into making a champ of this magnitude that is not either BL or Cultist (I have a BL Sorcerer as my primary HQ under the BL banner as well as a Berzerker on Jugger already, as well as a NL DP (delayed) WIP) and I was wondering whether I could/should paint him in such a manner that he will stand out as my army leader, should my Word Bearers become a big enough force of their own/ for small points games but also so that should he fall in behind my BL Sorcerer, he could go as just a CSM squad champion. My only other champions so far are a PM one which is a rather dull "bog standard" olde worlde metal with the power fist and a BL champ who is pretty impressive but i don't think Abaddon would let him loose with the keys to his Land Radier just yet... He's only at the blu-tac stage at the moment and hasn't been primed yet but he looks way too impressive to have just as a full time champion. Should he break the Black Legion shackles at some point and go renegade against them or should he know his place and stick to the dark crusade under the watchful eyes of my Sorcerer and Abaddon (who is again under construction/half painted from what seems like 100 years ago)? Given the size of his Crozius after modifications, his decoration and his general demeanour, he looks to have way too much ambition to just sit in the shadows of those above him currently... The gods will surely favour one so well tinkered with. Thoughts and comments if you please... Is this me on a bored break from my bits box thinking waaaaay too much or is this something that we should aspire to do with all our champions? nuclear.anxiety
Why restrict yourself? While you build your WB force use them as BL lackies, in WB colours but with the usual BL shoulder pad. If/when the world bearers get to a point where you can field them without BL assistance, all the better. Years ago i built up a Word bearers army for a local torny, converted my dark apostle. Now i'm building up a Black legion army (after years away from the game) and have become interested in the BL fluff regarding other legions and renegades being attracted to fight under abaddons and the BL flag. I've got some old Plague marines& berzerkers i will probably indoctrinate to the BL, now thanks to your post, i'm considering adding my old dark apostle too. Also, i'm painting up a pre-heresy world eaters (white with blue mid-riff, back pack and shoulder pads) for an, as yet, undetermined purpose. Chaos Lord Shamrockius
Wow, that's some cool fluff to add to my army development! I could make and use each chapters' "members" for battles of their own and also go to the stage of staying under the BL banner overall and allying with eachother as and when they all need. And of course, in case they receive orders from Abaddon. Thanks Nuke, I appreciate the input.
