Blood Slaughterer

Just finished this gorgeous forgeworld model, I got pre-release. Gonna put it up for auction but thought I'd show it off here first.

The legs were an absolute nightmare to assemble, and trying to work out the pose was near impossible until I'd pinned and

attached most of the legs, but it worked out quite well in the end.

Had to make the base myself from plasticard (100mm diameter) and it stands about twice the size of a dreadnought.

Very nice, the red and brass particularly ((At least to me)) seem very bold and defined. What was your estimated time speant on this piece?

Thanks, I'd estimate about 20 hours (including cleaning & assembly).

Please, share your recipe for that red hue! it looks exactly "right".

Hmm, lets see.

Mechrite red

Red Gore

Blood Red (but with a small amount of Chaos Black to remove some of the translucency)

drybrushed Blood Red (sparingly)

multiple coats of Red Ink (Baal Red wash would do)

watered down Ogryn Flesh Wash (1/1 water to wash) applied around the edges

Not sure it's the best approach but it's the one I used in this case.

Great execution! Great pose, great paint! I'm working on one of these myself right now, and I knew before I bought it that the legs were gonna be a real PITA. But since I pin everything already, there's no change from my normal MO. I was having some issues with how I was going to pose certain parts, but I think you've sorted that out for me. Thanks!

You have done an amazing job at painting the model and the pose is really good to!

Personally though, this model by forgeworld doesnt do anything for me. Looks like a bug that can very easily be squished! Maybe its the skinny legs or something!

But, you have done a very good paint and model job on him!

cheers

I think the possibilities of combining this kit with a Chaos Dreadnought are quite intriguing. When I first saw Forgeworld's sneak peek showing just the head, I expected it to be a chaos dread. That, and the possible claws/weapons that could be made from the arms/legs would be promising. Or perhaps use some parts on a defiler...

In fact I want to order another one right now :D

It misses one thing... victims!

I'd love to see some speared enemies stuck on it's "talons" (those that are in mid-air)

Thank you!

Absolutely well painted, without a doubt.

But the model is NOT up to Forgeworld standards. usually they do some very nice stuff, but I can;t stand the way the legs on this thing are supposed to hold up the rest of that body.

I'd actually prefer the old-school wheeled blood slaughterer.
