Secondwind
Anything in an inquisitors retinue can be generally explained. How likely or well done it is however is another problem. -Reasons for eldar in a retinue are many - the inquisitor saved the eldar thus the eldar is honorbound to return the favour. -A big bad farseer on a craftworld has deemed it necessary to aid an inquisitor to stop some greater danger to the eldar race. -The eldar was captured and must follow the demands of the inquisitor or the implant in his legs and arms will blow up. A good idea is to look into the "inquisitor" rulebook and read the fluff there as it really helps setting a scene. As said before however: -Get an idea. -Explain why. -Make sure its not overly crazy. (e.g. my inquisitor owns a chapter of space marines cause ....he said so!) -Done! Not sure if the PDF is on the GW site anymore, but a quick dig around The Conclave should help you find it (hint: look at MarcoSkoll's signature). Brother Andremus
Don't forget that Eldar are, in a way, sensationalists. They focus on some idea or theme and live for the sensation and experience of it all. To a fault - it consumes them. I don't think its a big stretch for one (or a few, in the race) Eldar to want to experience life with the lesser beings - it would not be love, or admiration, in the typical sense. It would more be an exploration of sensations previously unknown. Of course, this is undoubtably the Path of the Outcast - indeed, it is a step closer to the Path of Damnation... look what happened when the majority of the race decided to go off and explore forbidden sensations  So while it is a cliche'd image, to be sure - I think its not completely unreasonable for an Eldar to be "involved" with an inquisitor - whether as an aid, henchman, advisor, or even yes, a paramour. But I do agree with people that the motivations for such a relationship would be, in a word, alien. I say go with it - it would make an excellent looking inquisitor force. I used a banshee figure as an inquisitorial acolyte once - but I removed the head an replaced it with a bretonnian grail maiden's head...she was still human :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168513-eldarin-an-inquisitors-retinue/page/2/#findComment-1996777 Share on other sites
Lamenter
I've wanted to add an Eldar Ranger as part of an Inquisitor's retinue for a long time, but just can't bring myself to buy a 5 model box for one figure (suppose I could sell the other 4). As has already been said the Ranger is the most likely of the Eldar to accompany an Inquisitor, there's one in the Inquisitor game after all. Same for the Kroot as they are mercenary by nature (also included in the Inquisitor game), and if the Kroot Mercenaries rules are still valid there's no reason you couldn't include a singe Kroot Shaper as a Ally. krewl
As many have said before, your game, your models, go wild! And I might add, have you looked at brain control devices? I for one have always loved the idea of doing a Tyranids codex army with Inq. xenos models and brain controled tyranids models, with Elite Inquisitors as Psycher controle guys (Counts as Zoantrope, with shooting power and Synapse (Which is represented as the radio devices used to controle the nids).) The Hyve Tyrant would based of a model Karamasov (Counts as a Hyve tyrant, so synapse creature). The Carnifexes would be just that, but with say a scyte replaced with a dreadnought arm, or a back mounted gun. (Al bolted on crudely, but clear in WYSWIG) Synapse would then be the radio range, and some powers would be represented with mechanical parts. (Think Adaptus Mechanicus in the style of grafting parts on.) So you could use the same idea and include some pretty bizar aliens in your retinue even ones that don't play well with others if you sculpt a brain controle divice on their heads. (Though I feel that is not the way you play to go with the eldar I take it from the love interest.) Anyways, just to show you you can make almost anything fit into your list with count as and some hobby-ing. :) Best of luck !
