mordo
Love the greenstuffing... it just gives off a completly evil beast feel like it should!! 10/10 so far mate but i'd say go with something like dragon feet to give it that real organic feel to it... i hope to see more of this Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-1989498 Share on other sites

Uncle Mel
that looks awesome, very detailed bottom using the defiler piece. make sure you are still able to see it when on a display base! mel Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-1989948 Share on other sites
Alys Dwr
I think this is brilliant so far and am going to watch with anticipation for the details and legs to form - i can picture it in my mind already. I'm not very familiar with the whole daemonic possession of a rhino, but does the cannon serve a purpose in game or is it "rule of cool"? arbogast1
might be a 'counts as' defiler. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-1990175 Share on other sites
DuskRaider
I did something similar in fashion for my Defiler. Legs on a rhino chassis.... Although my GS skills are horrific. Yours, on the other hand... well let me just say, I love this so far and I have a feeling this is going to end up being epic! firestorm40k
:) This looks like it will be absolutely phenomenal when it's finished - your sculpting skills truly are to be envied! Great work, really looking forward to seeing your work progress :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-1990734 Share on other sites

slah
Thanks for all the kind words :) - I´ll keep this updated whenever I do something worth taking a picture of. The model in itself won´t be used for gaming because the way I´m planning it it will be too big and fragile to be usable on a gamingtable - it´ll be more like a displaypiece. BUT if anyone were to copy it - or parts of it - I would think it could be used as a rhino, a predator (rhino with a gun), a defiler (8 legs), or a baneblade (size + barrel from the baneblade kit). Plus it would be fairly easy to customize to whatever kind of tank you would want - like a landraider if a different chassis were used as the basis. Chaptermaster Graymantle
Cool! Kinda reminds me of a Tyranid creature. - Seems like it is growing out of the Rhino. Definitively works as a daemon! slah
Update time. I´ve just about finished the head, and the tissue that´connects the head to the Rhino-chassis. Ive made it in 2 seperate pieces, and also seperate from the chassis for ease of painting. I´ve added skin to the entire head, and also added a lot of small details - most noticeably the white plugs. These will have several uses. Some will be used for hoses which I´ll add after painting the model, which will help "pull together" the model, because the tubes and hoses will go to and from different parts of the models. Other plugs I´ll leave empty just for use as "greebles", and a few of the plug I´ll add watereffects to, making it look like they are oozing various disgusting bodily fluids. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1609.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1610.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1611.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1612.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1613.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1614.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1615.jpg This is how far I´ve come so far. Hubernator
Well it's impressive, no doubt for that. However I must ask: 1) why a rhino? 2) why does the deamon have a gun in his mouth? And a big one at that 3) how is the thing gonna move if the head is beneath the rhino? (as in the wheels wont sit properly if you lay it down) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-1998063 Share on other sites
slah
Thank you  As to your questions they are easily answered: 1 and 2 : A rhino was what I had lying around when I started, but I would most likely have used a rhino chassis even if I had a larger chassis lying around (like a LR). I find that the rhino is small enough to make it seems like the creature inside really is big and wants to come out - without having to go to modelling extremes. Also I have no plans whatsoever to game with it, so it doesn´t have to apply to any rules whatsoever - thats why it has a big mean gun in it´s mouth even though it´s a "lowly" transporter in the game. 3: It´s gonna have long creepy spindly legs - I´m thinking something like 30 cm at the moment - so it´s gonna have plenty of ground-clearance  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-1998064 Share on other sites

slah
I´ve started on the base (just a little bit), and I´ve decided to use guards as the "cannon-fodder". So far I´ve abused one cadian command squad, but I´m considering going to town and getting an entire squad and just use them for mutilated bodies in the trench. These ones are still very wip, and mostly just tacked together to see if I can get the right "feeling" from them. The surviving guardsmen - making a futile attempt of stopping the tank (they will be placed to the side/behind it - up against a trenchwall): http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1694.jpg One weakwilled guardsman succumbing to the chaotic taint of the rhino (also very wip so far). He´ll get a few more mutations, and when all done I´ll add some coloured UHU glue to simulate him puking his guts out: http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1695.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1696.jpg I´ve also started on the legs, and allthough only the lowest part I´m still not done, as it still needs detaling/trim. I know it looks very heavy/big compared to the rhino, but that´s on purpose - the rest of the legs are gonna be much thinner. However I wanted the lower part of the legs to be heavily armored so they are better for stomping at puny guardsmen :D http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1699.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/slah_photos/Games%20Workshop/40K/Chaos/possessed%20rhino/IMG_1698.jpg Now I just need to learn how ta make moulds and cast stuff! Comments and ideas are appreciated as always ;) - I´m hoping it´s ok to post pictures of the guardsmen now they are gonna be horribly crushed underfoot of my chaos machine of death? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168618-demonically-possesed-rhino-kitbashsculpt/#findComment-2026709 Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
Insanity! And i'm sure you are fine posting the guardsmen. Afterall, in this case they are not actually guardsmen, they are basing material that just happens to be the same model.
