The Burning Eclipse Apocalypse Force

Recommended Posts

Well, having a 4'000 point Apocalypse game is great incentive to build one of the funnest looking Super Heavies in the game.

It's activation sequence is entertaining and the data sheet is rife with jokes and mishaps.

Taking it upon myself to use an empty box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates and some Chaos Vehicle sprue bits (along with a small flying base and a gem taken from lego) to create this weapon of mass destruction. Here are the pictures (excuse the poor quality pictures);

I'm off to paint it today and hopefully put it to evil and nefarious uses...

C&C away!

Well, sadly due to under-staffing at GW, no priming or painting of the Doomsday Device could occur. Instead, I got to use it in an 8'000 point Apoc game! Woo, Chaos. Me and my Guardsmen ally were getting slaughtered, the doomsday device was sitting right in our opponent's deployment zone. He didn't even try to go for the two objectives within 6 inches of it. Then, just as the Stormtroopers come on and claim the objective, the device finally activates and I roll a 13 on the table. Vvvvvrroooooommm! The stormtroopers were annihilated and we lost the game 4-0.

Well, after a little bit of thinking, I decided to transform this into my Apocalypse WIP thread. The reason for this is the upcoming Lucky 13s Campaign (already underway at my nearby GW) so I'm going to be preparing for the many Apoc games like mad!

My latest project (which I hope to finish by this Saturday for a painting comp!) is the Lords of the Black Crusade Apocalypse Formation. Not only is it very viable on the battlefield, it is also amazingly cool and satisfying to shout out "And now, the Planet Killer will open fire!" That, and the many strategic assets that come with it are ridiculously useful.

The formation shall consist of 15 models in total;

David the Despoiler (Abaddon stand-in)

Tzenran the Anointed (Tzeentch Sorcerer, Terminator Armor)

Estran the Exalted (Slaanesh Chaos Lord, on Bike)

Ethlicit the Corrupter (Nurgle Chaos Lord, on foot and in power armor)

Kraytirous the Gorger (Khorne Chaos Lord, on Juggernaut)

10 Chaos Terminators (Mark of Tzeentch)

Each Chaos Lord has their respective Daemon weapon and when I get further along in my army, will ride with a dedicated retinue.

But until then, pictures of David the Despoiler will suffice. I have some of the Slaanesh Lord, which will come soon.

Well, the formation is complete (sorry for taking so long to add it) but here's a pic of the Nurgle Lord;

In the game that I used him, just as he was about to attack the Nurgle Lord Skabbaithrax (the giant bloated guy with 10 wounds and Toughness 9), with Epidymius' ability affecting him, succumbed to his Daemon Weapon. As it would seem, Nurgle did not allow the man to battle the great Unclean One with a Daemon Weapon of his own making, instead feeding the Lord's soul to the Daemon as punishment for his insolence. (He was instant killed).

The Khorne Lord. He killed absolutely nothing in the game, as his might strength of 5 could not affect the Great Unclean One. My friend prophesied Spawndom. He's not quite finished yet.

Chaos Sorcerer with the Mark of Tzeentch. He wounded the mighty Great Unclean One once with the Wind of Chaos.

Another picture of David the Despoiler. To his left, a slight bit blurry, you can see the Slaanesh Lord on his Chaos Steed. I mean Bike. Bike!

The Despoiler was the one to bring down the unkillable Daemon, with Epidymius' Noxious Touch rule and his Daemon Weapon. This was after an unerringly accurate bombardment from my SM allies' Rocket Launchers. 9 out of the 12 hit, and 7 wounded. (He was toughness 9...) The Daemon lost two wounds to that, another one to a well placed Wind of Chaos and then was brought low before the Despoiler, who lived with one wound and then survived a turn of shooting from 20 Chaos Terminators, arriving from Deep Strike as the Chaos Annihilation Force. The Despoiler was designated with a Precision Strike, making all of their twin-linked bolters and combi-melta's hit on twos. But as fate would have it, the Despoiler would not be downed.

I'll post some more pictures (better pictures, hopefully) later on.
