Arnak'ra'Narok
Assuming the other player is roughly the same skill as you and has a blanced army whats your toughest fight? As much as it pains me to admit, my toughest is a friends IG army. Hes got into the mindset of an imperial commander, that is to say; "Everything but the tanks gets thrown into the daemons as a stall!" And of course thanks to the new codex his 6 leman russ tanks have heavy 20 weapons mounted on them... :) On the other hand while most people have trouble with tyranids i seem to do just fine because in the face of a DS army they lose all their strategy, that is run forwards at full speed till you find something to kill but by the time i hit them hard, their synapse is gone ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168788-whats-your-toughest-fight/ Share on other sites
Seahawk
Horde armies, hands down, although that was before I started using fiends. Ork hordes can shoot me down before I get to them. IG hordes can shoot me down before I get to them. Both can ridiculously slaughter me in HTH (I don't know how, but that has been the only result out of four games). There are simply far too many bodies to chew through; it's not that I don't have space to "deploy," as there's always plenty of room (even with 150-190 enemy models on the table in 1500 points). Too many guns facing me, too many bodies to rend, not much saving to speak of on my half. Those have all just been terrible games. Otherwise, balanced forces? IG, BT, Tyranids, SM, Tau, Necrons, and DH have all been fairly easy to rip up. If they're not easy, then it ends in a draw . DuskRaider
Fighting a Death Guard army with my Mono-Nurgle list, lol. It takes forever for someone to die, and since Epidemius is in the mix, the Tally starts adding up. Crazy games! OwlandMoonGuy
So far, the toughest army I’ve had to face was mech Tau and I’m sure mech Eldar could also give me some problems. Highly mobile vehicles that can lay down a lot of firepower are the perfect units to piecemeal daemons. I’ve adjusted my list accordingly but still extreme cases give me some concern. In reading some of these posts, I do think that there are balanced ways to address each one. As in hoards don’t bother me at all, in fact I relish the opportunity to take them on. Dawn of War missions are still a nightmare but that’s a 40K mission problem more than a daemon problem. Perhaps we should start new threads based on some of the issues raised here with suggestions on how to counter them effectively. Just a thought, -OMG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168788-whats-your-toughest-fight/#findComment-1991994 Share on other sites
stump
I have to agree with OwlandMoonGuy Mech anything just hurts me hard to get throu that armour with my basic troops. Slow and Purpoesfull also hurts getting to the vehicles. I play Nurgle so keep this in mind I can think of ways to counter it with different Deamons I just like Papa Nurgle. Captain Malachi
Hordes for me, most daemon armies can put out a lot of attacks, but my daemonzilla army can't do that so well. Yeah, each of my attacks will likely result in a kill, but still hordes are a problem. All my MCs are fast so mech isn't so tough for me, although I haven't played a mech dark eldar force yet, that I can see being harder. Gaz1858
Ive got to put a vote in for a Mech Eldar list aswell. Only by some lucky rolls did i manage to beat that army and i could easily have gone the other way. Rahveel
Honestly, with Mono-Tz, I havent had much of an issue with mech, although there are no eldar players other than myself in my aria (although I belive I could give myself a run for my money). Id have to say I have the most trouble with SM's with DH allies (lately my younger brothers favorite combo). null zone+sanctuary=ow.
