Fantastic !!

i may have missed it but can you tell everyone how you do your weathering?

i have a diy chapter in progress that look like they run and hide at the first sign of a fight to keep clean compared to these

You style of painting is gritty, rusty and fits the gothic dark future like a glove. I always like gritty stuff and yours is no exception , I really like the chips in the armour and stuff like that but the best thing would be that they are painted very smoothly first and then wheathered. It fits my imagination of th 40k very well.

cheers

Amazing painting skills. The weathering is of real exceptional quality!

Im not a fan of weathering marines because i belive they fluffwise polish their holy armor every single minute they do not fight.

But i have to admit it looks good (a little to much a trend for me :whistling: ).

Keep up your good work and maybe a tutorial on your rust technique would please a lot of souls on this forums.

got carried away with ideas for the MotF 's bike so i need to stop :wallbash:

Indeed.

The weathering is looking good & I love the way the rust trails run down from the rivets on the thunderfire cannon.

For an endeavour like this, I seriously think that you deserve your very own squad of cheerleaders cheering you on.

Now that is coming along nicely mate, I really like that Thunderfire Cannon - not sure if i've called it the right name or not as my minds completely mince at the mo. Methinks you'll be getting begged to do a tutorial on your weathering before to long (hint hint, beg, whine, plead, yadda yadda) :)

Finally! a chance to do an update after real life has reared it's ugly head.

thanks to everyone for the positive comments!

@Ekkanus - cheers buddy! if people seriously want a tutorial on how to do super realistic weathering on vehicles (i've not perfected it on the marines themselves yet :P ) then i will be more than happy to do so. as i need to bear in mind everything i do has to go towards the 3000pt target give me a couple of days to sort out which tank to use though

@Blindhamster - thanks chap. the rust is gryphonne sepia and then flesh wash, but i'll cover it more in the tut.

For an endeavour like this, I seriously think that you deserve your very own squad of cheerleaders cheering you on.

@Kikunosuke - i did consider doing a squad of marines with pom poms to cheer me on! however that would have distracted me from the task in hand ;)

@Naysmith - thanks! everyone has a style that they like, i'm just pleased that despite your preferences you like what i do!

the idea is that these guys have been on a prolonged campaign for faaaar to long! cut off from pretty much any outside assistance and starting to feel the effects.

@Animerik - glad you like it! thats the kind of feel i'm trying to capture with theses guys, and so far it seems to be working.

@barry_hhh and MalevolentMc - there'll be a tut soon, as i soon as i sort out a vehicle.

now for piccys!!

here's the terminator i was working on a few posts ago, decided not go with the name Druss as the character the name comes from has an axe and no shield and i'd rather do something different than cut up this guy. not finished yet

and here's the running devastator marine, getting there :)

and started re-doing the grey knight termys.

Nice mate, really nice! You've pulled off that Grey Knight rather nicely. Are you going to use the GK rules for them, or are you just using your own 'Dex rules?

I'm using rules for normal termys with lightning claws for the GK's, the idea being that the unit scorns the the use of boltguns but have the arm mounted weapons to keep the chapter master happy and are so good with their swords and halberds that they count as lightning claws. trying to think of a name for the unit too. so far i have "The Arcane" but not sure about it.

I love your guys and although I don't do battle damage as intense as yourself the things you have done is giving me a whole lot of little ideas of where to apply the 'owies'. Good luck with the vow to get 3000 points done in 6 months. I suggest you attempt a sort of rank and file approach. Maybe work on 2 or 3 marines and a terminator at the same time. Means that you get a nice mix.

i did consider doing a squad of marines with pom poms to cheer me on! however that would have distracted me from the task in hand

My mind was soiled with the image of space marines with pom poms and mini skirts doing dances while other marines played blood bowl.

Cheers, Messanger

@sgtNACHO - Cheers! ypu he'll be running with a heavy bolter, after all, he's a 7/8 foot tall genetically engineered super warrior, why shouldn't he be able to run with a whacking great gun :)

@Animerik - thanks buddy! if it's more you want, then more you shall have! just very..... very...... slowly

@Blindhamster - cheers chap, now post yours you big goon (don't worry all, i'm not in the habit of throwing out random abuse, blindhamster is a good mate of mine)

@Messanger of Death - thanks. i'm glad it's inspired you! i really need to try the rank and file approach, so far my haphazard method is getting me nowhere. i need to speed up! and don't worry about the pom pom space marines i don't think i could bring myself to do it :)

time for another meagre update (one of these days i'll post decent update :))

finished off the base and did a few tweaks. got a half decent glow on the eyes but i'm not totally happy with it.

oh man that is sweet, if i could change my chapter color it would def be that is it okay with you if I make a dev squad in your scheme?

I know you said that was ok, but i really love your paint scheme would you have any problem if i tried it out? (IF I like it I'll probably do my whole army like it unless you say no). Thanks.

@twistinthunder - Evil was what i was aiming for so thanks! these boys aren't ultra smurfs. as for the chips, i start with a mix of scorched brown and chaos black (about 1:1) and paint the scratches in a semi random manner (think about areas that would get battered more than others, like feet and edges of panels) then with a VERY thin brush i paint a lighter mix of the base colour in a sort of half outline of the bottom of the scratch, remember to visualise where the light source is before placing the highlights on the scratches though.

@BloodClaw Craig - Hogun will be the bike sergeant yes :) i also have a pile of small bits which will be my new version of Druss the Legend (essentially an almost truescaled terminator but probably not as tall, Druss is described as being not as tall as people expect but "Built like a small castle")

@verpine - by all means do paint up some guys or a whole army. just make sure you post them!! :) i'd love too see how it comes out.

@Plankton - thanks! a few people have asked for a tutorial and i've said i'll do one, all i need to do now is pull my finger out and get it done! :D

tonights meagre update:

Bit of a late night special for you here.

Meet Druss....he's a slightly biggerised terminator. very much in the WiP stages (you can't beat Blu-tac for a mock up) but you can see where i'm going with it. the thunder hammer is just for the photo, he'll have an axe when he's done. still not sure about the pose but i'll look at other options (Anyone got any cool ideas?)
