Sevano Tomasin
Well guys, the title says it all. After having seen so many really good looking true/acurate scale marines, I thought I'd have a go. They are still heavy works in progress. They will eventually be painted as Ultramarines 4th company members with Captain Ideaus, playing somewhere between Ichar IV and Thracia. They are for a Movie marine rule force, ready to fight a very big battle (fighting against movei-style night-lords) Anyway. These are no-where near completion. I have to sand down the rough green-stuff and there are a few bits I need to fix. I do need your help - or atleast, people with a lot of knowledge of the 4th company Ultramarines (before Ventris!). I have found very few descriptions of Ideaus, so help is required. Questions and comments are very welcome and needed. - Please note - the models have some paint on them because the parts came from previously painted models - they are no-where near ready for paint yet.... Ideaus wip: http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/ServanoTomasin/CaptIdeaus.jpg Combat team 1: (again, very early WiP) http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/ServanoTomasin/P1011108.jpg Techmarine Tomasin - Happy with him so far - Again I need help here. I have very basic descriptions of him. I know that he has bionic legs, and right arm is bionic - but thats it. Any ideas for how I should arm him? Head - what type? - I'm thinking of giving him the Dev-squad head with hair (similar to the DA one I gave to the captain) http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/ServanoTomasin/techmarine-movie.jpg Thanks for looking, S.T Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168986-hit-by-the-true-scale-band-wagon/ Share on other sites
Tutteman
Ooooo, you look like you're doing a good job here. I also am jumping on the bandwagon for "True Scale". I however do not have the confidence to do a WIP. I shall post in the Hall of Honour if all goes well, but I shall keep an eye on this, just for ideas... ;) I presume part of the process will involve tidying up the GS (rather you than me) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168986-hit-by-the-true-scale-band-wagon/#findComment-1994158 Share on other sites
cathar the great
Your greenstuff work still needs a lot of practice. It still looks a bit like Grandfather Nurgle has been blessing your marines. But other than that, good job, the Techmarine legs are great! Lamenter
Buy yourself a clay shaper or two. They helped improve my greenstuff work by about a 1000%. I like the idea of reinforced techmarine legs, they do after all have to carry a lot of weight about on those servo harnesses. Sevano Tomasin
Ok thanks guys. My green-stuff skills aren't the best - but I am sanding down the rough green-stuff, and filling in some of the gaps. A clay shaper you say? This may sound a little silly, but what exactly is one, and how does it work? However, I still need Ultramarines fluff help, as mentioned in my first post (and I thought it would be better to ask in this topic than just start another topic in the UM forums) Again, opinions for how to arm the techmarine would be helpful - all I will say is, NO power-axe/ thunder hammers. Thanks guys S.T Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168986-hit-by-the-true-scale-band-wagon/#findComment-1994708 Share on other sites
Tutteman
Well you can't use a conversion beamer seeming as he's got full servo...umm (Checks Codex to see other options for MotF and techmarines)...no idea. Maybe a storm bolter and some 'nades in other hand? Oh and don't worry too much about GS. I'm kinda crap at it myself. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168986-hit-by-the-true-scale-band-wagon/#findComment-1994721 Share on other sites
hendrik
the DA ravenwing box has a techmarine head in it, would fit quite nice Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168986-hit-by-the-true-scale-band-wagon/#findComment-1994957 Share on other sites
Lamenter
Ok thanks guys. My green-stuff skills aren't the best - but I am sanding down the rough green-stuff, and filling in some of the gaps.A clay shaper you say? This may sound a little silly, but what exactly is one, and how does it work? They look like brushes but have silicone rubber tips in various shapes and varying levels of firmness. http://www.metalclay.com.au/images/others/Clay%20Shapers%20Images/blkshapers2.jpg They help get smooth finishes and assist in the shaping process (other tools are helpful too, I predominantly use a scalpel for about half my fine detail sculpting). Sevano Tomasin
Ok thanks Lamenter - I'll look out for them. Would I be correct in assuming that they can be found at most good hobby&craft centre/shops? Sevano Tomasin
OK, update on the movie/true scale project. I've done more work on the captain - I've managed to salvage him, and he doesn't look so bad anymore. Have given him a basic paint job. No photos yet. Now, onto the actual work. The techmarine - I've done cosmetic work on him, but mainly on the back. The front still needs fixing slightly. Flamer-arm fell off, will be fixed once painted. The left leg needs a little fixing too. Given techmarine a bolter and auspex - what do you think? (Again, please note - the shouler-pad is a stand in, it will be replaced with a clean one) http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/ServanoTomasin/P1011101-1.jpg Second of all - heads. I'm trying to give him a head, but I can't decide which one. Any preferances from the selection below? http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff80/ServanoTomasin/P1011105.jpg Thanks again, S.T Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/168986-hit-by-the-true-scale-band-wagon/#findComment-2011412 Share on other sites
