Painting Red Hair

I've done a searchy and am still drawing a blank. I am in the midst of a custom Ragnar and have come down to his head (or is that up? haha). I am looking for a good red hair/brown hair recipe. I don't want a "fiery" red head but more on the light brown tone. Anything would be useful.

PS I ask here because I figure us wolf brothers are accustomed to painting red hair. : )

i use a blazing orange and scab red combo. its not red brown but looks rather more relistic than just blazing orange.if you do want a redish brown color try blazing orange and scorched brown

Go red.... just paint it strait blood red.

 

Then go over it with a watered down snakebite leather, but not everywhere.

 

Then go over it with a chestnut ink.

 

then highlight with a lil drybrushed red gore OR beaten bronze.

 

Makes a nice auburn.

Been awhile since I did it, but I gave some of my Sisters red hair. Can't remember the exact colors, but I started w/the bright yellow, added a bit of light brown to it 'till it looked "dirty blond," then added a touch of red (scab red, I think? one of the darker ones) and used that as the base coat. For highlights, I added a little bit of orange to the mix.

Came out looking pretty close to natural red hair.
