Grimtooth
Since we have our wonderful True Grit and our Grey Hunters/Slayers have the option of running with their bolter and chainsword, I would like to model some of my models with the chainsword stored away. I have seen just some glue on a flat spot pictures, but does anyone have any pics or links to a chainsword stored in a really good position. I am looking at some models and just drawing a blank on creativity right now. Thanks for the ideas in advance. Bran Scalphunter
I remember seeing one once on the Interweb of a Grey Slayer blasting away with the bolter two-handed, his chain-axe embedded in a dead Chaos Marine, handle by his side. But that was a long time ago and I've not the foggiest idea of where to search for it. Me, I've GS'd a few bolters to be on straps as the Hunter holds the chainsword, but nothing fancy. Grimtooth
I was thinking of having a squad or maybe two of Grey Slayers with bolters in the regular SM pose but just with chainswords stowed someplace. I have seen a glue and tack on the backpack and on the back butt skirting, just nothing that I really like. Oh well, off to stare at bitz and see if something comes to mind. Commander Sasha
Checkout the Dark Angels that have a sword horizontally stowed on the top of their power packs, like a trophy rack. Also gets round the problem of shredding your scabbard! Grimtooth
I might have an option. I can place the chain sword horizontally on the backpack with the chain blades face up and the flat of the blade against the back circular vent. I just need to figure out now how I will make it looked attached. Some modeling chain? Leather straps up, over, and around the two exhaust vents and then around the sword? The way it looks just with me holding it up it gives me the impression of a present day Marine with a combat rucksack loaded up. Considering my opinion of 13th Co, it seems feasible. muzzyman1981
Well the trouble I have with chainswords not being held is how do you get a chainsword to not be in a model's hand? I have yet to find a chainsword all by itself. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169119-stowing-chainswords/#findComment-1996337 Share on other sites

Megalodon
Alternatively you could just use the sheathed CC weapons from the SW accessory sprue. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169119-stowing-chainswords/#findComment-1996376 Share on other sites
Warhorse47
As far as a bracket for the chainsword, try N scale model railroad grab irons for boxcars. They should be about the right size, made of brass, so they will be easy to work. WG Vrox
As far as a bracket for the chainsword I just go off the assumption that magentic locks have come along way over the past 40k years and a Space Wolf can pretty much mount his chainsword anywhere he wants. I have played around with creating stubbies. I cut out a third of the chainsword and created a stubby chainsword. Looks kinda cool and I would think provide alot more places to Mag Lock it on the body. Granted it's not standard issue, but hey we are wolves and somethings just need a little twinking to be personalized. I did this for a few blood claws to give the pack a diverse look. WG Vrox. Grey Mage
I let it rest, blades down, on their rear armor, or blade down on the thigh armor. Frankly a scabard just gets in the way. Of course, theres the old school chainsword bayonette too. Hfran Morkai
I've placed a chainsword across a guys back and not put a backpack on. Then I'm gonna GS some straps to hold his chainsword in place. I modelled my chainsword hilt by using knife parts from the SM scout sprue.
