dchmp
Brothers, I have finished collecting a spacewolf army and i'm thinking about going in different direction with the paint scheme. In the new SM dexs there is a small account of a chapter called the Red Wolves that battled the Alpha Legion. The colors I'm thinking about are dark red and off white or ivory. I'm tempted to use the ivory as the many color and the red as the trim and decoration. Do you guys think that this would be to far out to be justified as a Spasewolves army? jester262
it's your army do what you like. And if I'm not mistaken the actual color of a great company is decided by the Wolf Lord. JEFF4i
Far out plot-wise? Yes, read our second-founding fluff. But its your army, so do whatever ya like. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169425-the-red-wolves/#findComment-2000042 Share on other sites
CPT Tiberius
it's your army do what you like. And if I'm not mistaken the actual color of a great company is decided by the Wolf Lord. thats sounds like a good option...maybe the wolf lord's tribe on fenris covered themselves in red war paint before battles (cuz they go faster) and he being the HSWIC of his company says...quoting my wifey..."I do what I want!" Hfran Morkai
So you want to use SW rules with different coloured models? I'm sure that will be fine so long as you explain to your opponent that they are indeed SW! Particularly the way GW are releasing dexes now and you can rename your character I'm sure people won't mind. I wouldn;t mind playing red space wolves, it would be interesting to see us in different colours. We don't like no steenking codex astartes! Grey Mage
Yeah, go for it. The Red Wolves are primarily red, with white shoulders and black insignia IIRC, so your really not far off anyways. If you do the models right you could even use either codex at will... for when your feeling you want a change of pace. KiltedMarine
Go for it, brother! It's nice to hear a fellow Wolf thinking of a non-grey scheme. My Hounds are based orange, and it's never caused a problem with opponents... Grimtooth
Well if you need inspiration just look at wolves in nature. Plenty of colors there to choose from and surprisingly none of them are "blue". Grimfoe
RED WOLVES??!!! Are you crazy? No way! Heretic! ^_^ Absolutely unacceptable! I can't see it and I can't believe any self-respecting wolf player would support it!! (just kidding.. I think it would look pretty cool. Remember, these are just toy soldiers, so you should paint them however you wish with no fear of anyone saying you're "wrong." I just thought everyone on the board was being a little too nice. Where's the controversy? Where's the banter back and forth? jeesh) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169425-the-red-wolves/#findComment-2001135 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
It would be very appropriate to use alternate color schemes for a company that is lost. Remember, There have been many companies that have recanted their oaths to the Wolf Lord at the time. This does not mean they are traitors just that they didn't care for he guy in charge. This independent and stubborn nature was fostered by our Primarch and is part of our character. Your company may have departed eons ago and went on a quest to the other part of the galaxy. You could even tie in a story/fluff where they influenced the Codex "Red Wolves" into paying homage to them after they helped complete some dire mission in their sector blah blah blah...
