Converting CSM Demon Prince to Nurgle

Recommended Posts

My first post here.... Have been hiding in the dakkadakka forum while I did my Ork army, but now when I work on my Nurgle CSM army I feel that a dedicated forum might be better for tossing ideas and getting comments and getting insperation from other with the same focus.

When I thought that have finished my nurgle army, I realized that I still had one DP in my bitz box. A metal DP that I bought on eBay some time ago. Since it´s not very nurgly I decided to put my sculpting skills to the test. My plan is to use the DP a foundation a sculpt the new DP over the old one.

I had had some progress I would to share the result so far. Comments and suggestions are very welcome!

There is still a gap between the shoulder and the wings since the wings are not glued. I havent diceded if the wings shall be removable yet or not.

I am starting to feel that the model starts to be finished. The wings are left ofc.

I would like some commects on details and so on...

first off awesome GS work,

i think the wings should be removable if you want versitality but that would mean

adding something like magents or clips. This may make it look odd without the wings

but you gould dress them up to look like chimenneys or something.

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought to myself, "Why make a Nurgle Daemon Prince? GW and FW both have great models!"... I take that back. Your GS skill is amazing and this piece is terrific! I'd agree with the others on making the wings removable, if only for transport. I never made the wings on my FW Bloodthirster magnetic, and everytime I transport him they fall off :-(

I am glad you like it, since it´s my first real big GS job, I am quite pleased.

After spending some time looking at these magnified pictures of the mini, I am starting to dislike his right kneepad. Its the nurgle symbol, or more specificly the "flesh" holding the 3 skulls. You can see it on the first and fourth picture.

Remove, redo or keep?

I have started think aboat the paintjob.

I think I might go dry brushing all the why here.

Starting from

chaos back to

Catachan green to

Camo green to

Rotten flesh to

Bleched bone to

Skull white hightlights.

I am thinking of about 20 different layers of blends from catachan green all the way up to skull white.

75% catachan green + 25% camo green

50% catachan green + 50% camo green

25% catachan green + 75% camo green

100% camo green

75% camo green + 25% Rotting flesh

and so on...

I did the same with my FW Nurgle DP, but stopped at rotten flesh to get a greenish skin, if I go all the way up to skull white I will obtain a more green glowing rotten white tone. (I think).

Then washing all with diluted Orgyn flesh wash, and adding ordinary flesh wash around blisters and wounds.

Comments?

Impressive mini, the head would not my choice but that's just me. The wings is really cool but far to big imo. I think you could shorten the "upper arm" bit some 4-5 mm to make it look more balanced. Anyways cool stuff and thanks for sharing

What do you mean with the "upper arm"? They are quite big, maybe too big as you say. Hmm... have to give this some thought. Thanks for the feedback.

It looks good and I think it could be fixed so no nes wings yet mate, just try and make part of the wing that could be called the shoulder a bit shorter or just try and do it in paint/photoshop to see how it looks. Still I like the concept

keep working man

Yea! I was going to say, sure the wings are big, but they look proportionate to the model; as if they would actually need to be that big for that guy to take to the skies.

And plus, they look completely rad.

Well, now it´s official. I am totally stuck in the painting...

I wanted to abondon the paint scheme I have used for the rest of the army (drybrushing catachan green, camo green, rotting flesh and bleched bome hightlight).

I wanted a brighter rotten white tone with green and brown spots... The wing I am testing on looks more like a skeleton..... Anyone have any suggestions for color choise?

I'd say... More wash? I know the GW wash's can really work wonders, with a Nurgle model aswell, you should be able to achieve something pretty crazy with the amount of freedom you'd be able to work with.

Well, I am quite unhappy with the resuslt so far, as I wrot in my previus post. I took a picture with my mobilephone just befor I ran to work. I am testing the color choises on one of the wings. Its basecoated in catachan green and I have only painted the "arm" part of the wing.
