Question on Colour Scheme

Hi all,

Just come up with a possible new way of getting my =][= on the field again without GKs and certainly without IG... but that is for another post...

The question I have is one of fluff. In the novels and the DH and WH dexes, I do not recall any specific mention of a uniform colour scheme for =][= assets and troops. The "Modelling" pages in the codecii seem to promote red and black, at least for ISTs. Is this enough to mean that, if I wanted to stay fluffy, I would have to paint my =][= forces in red & black?

I suppose you could argue segmentum specific colours, like the navy, or even Ordos ones (red for malleus etc), but does anyone have a definitive answer for this?

I am leaning towards a regal blue and dark grey or black colour scheme personally - is this diverting from the fluff in any major way?

Well for me my storm troopers are standard cadian colours with the right shoulder pad dark red with a white inquisition symbol painted on, but I personaly feel cammo colours would still be an important part of any soldiers uniform even if they are elite demon hunters. I havnt seen any fluffy mention of the colour schemes however, but I would assume red and black is the given standard amongst the hobby community.

However, its your minis do whatever you feel like.

IMO, the Red/Black/White is only a must for those wishing to stay fluffy with the actual GK models..... I think the scheme itself simply just extended to the other parts of the studio's army so that it all looked cohesive on the field. You should be free to paint your Inquisitor and ISTs as you see fit.... after all the GK's are just the chamber militant of the Ordo Malleus, they are not the Inquisition/Ordo itself and I'm sure individual Inquisitors would have their own personal colors/heraldry.

My 2 cents...

I think you can confidently paint your Inquisitorial Stormtroopers in any colours you want and have it fit the fluff. They could be Stormtroopers belonging to an individual Inquisitor, or to an Ordo, or a Conclave, or to any other grouping of Inquisitors that you'd care to mention. I'm sure some groups would go in for distinctive heraldry, whereas others would prefer camo, and yet others would dress wholly in black with all markings removed to provide some level of deniability.
