This a reply to the unreasonable hate for SP...by DA Fan :D

Well, I am a Dark Angels fan and it is sad to read that you also compare us (DA fans) to the ones who simply don’t understand Space Wolves. I love Dark Angels but also am trying to understand the Space Wolves popularity.

In this moment I could say that they are just savage, future like soldiers with advanced technological weaponry adorned with medieval talismans, animal belts and such stuff that I find don’t suit the warriors of the future. I mean yes they maybe accurate but for feudal worlds that live without technology and such…but I won’t compare them to that because I would reveal myself as a typical DA fan 

On the other hand following your deduction I could also say that typical for SW fan is to ‘hate’ DA fans just because the fluff say so. C’mon guys don’t be so much involved in this !!!!

I try to like space wolves but I don’t hate them at all !!! I just try to understand their place in the 41st millennium. The fact that I like most the monkish and mysterious warriors doesn’t mean I hate the Viking ones 

Regards to all of you space wolves fans !!

I'm not quite sure if I smell a troll here, so I'll try to be succinct.

I suspect most SW players, and I say this because iot's my belief, hate/dislike Dark Angels because our chapters feel that way about each other.

And where Wolves care for the lives of ordinary humans, Dark Angels have a reckless disregard for human life and the imperial citizens they are meant to protect.

However, I don't think anyone who can seperate fact from fiction has a problem with DA players because they play DA.

Anyone who does on that basis, really needs their head examined.

By that rationale I should not be friends with my housemate who plays Necron/Tyranids or the other one who has an ][ SoB force.

Fair enough. Things go both ways, but I've never been one to take it that seriously. I've always thought that the rule in the Wolves book about fighting DA is a pretty bad one. Makes perfect sense for the Thousand Sons, but not the DA.

Yeah, because if the Space Wolves ended up fighting the Dark Angels in the background on a massive scale, then something has seriously gone wrong!

My best mate plays Dark Angels and Thousand Sons.

I can't wait to murder him with my new Space Wolves army :P

Its not about hate, its about fun, the hate between the SW and DA are just some fun and game item's, its a fictional world and you have to take sides.

I'm a wolf so I dislike DA and HATE 1000 sons, In game terms and in poking about at players, I do not hate the gamer behind the army, except when he is a :P of a player, but I would hate a fellow SW player for that to.

In my experience it seems to be all within the confines of the game and fits the fluff of both sides - primarchs bickering and onwards. I think its friendly banter, thats all.

To be honest, I can't really relate to Dark Angels, although one of my regular opponents and friends plays them, and I suspect thats largely because I do like Space Wolves.

Some things in the galaxy will never change... the (friendly) rivalry between Wolves and Dark Angels is simply a classic example of competition between chapters which is positive in nearly every way as far as I can tell

It is a bit of a misconception to imagine that the talimans, wolf pelts etc are "magic" items which don't belong, in fact the items themselves generally do nothing but rather their presence on the model tells you something about that character. The wolf pelt for example doesn't provide the +1 attack on counterattack, rather the only way a character could gain a wolf pelt is to be skilled at counterattacking, the pelt does nothing, it is just a representation to show the character had that ability anyway. Similarly wolf tooth necklaces don't make you better at hitting in combat, they are only given to Space Wolves who show that ability, again the necklace itself does nothing, it is just that if the character didn't have the ability he wouldn't have been given the necklace.

If you look at it from that perspective then they are less a bunch of fantasy items but rather a characterful way of showing which models have special abilities.

I also think its more to do with fluff. I mean if I actually met a DA player I would probably respect him like any other opponent just with some friendly banter. I think the appeal of the Wolves is that they are barbaric and like hitting people with axes. Wheras DA have some nasty Deathwing termies. Yay for Deathwing! DA are a much darker chapter wheras the wolves are a force more bent towards humour.
I have always liked the DA and just started collecting again. I have read the history of the DA and there differences with the SW which is understandable because they both use completely different tactics. When i get my army up and running i will gladly fight alongside a SW army or against without being hatefull etc just because of some fluff! (Great fluff by the way)

I have nothing against Dark Angels personally, it is only that I like their constant fighting over who's best and like to "Go in Character". However the Chaos scum in the Thousand Sons deserve no mercy. The only thing they deserve is a power axe in the face!!!

The thing that makes me like the Wolves are their viking-like fluff(I'm Swedish after all.), honour, courage, beer and fighting, that's what the Space Wolves lives are all about.

Humm so was this topic dedicated to my last one ? XD anyway

As a SW player , i dont hate DA at all . With all respect to them as any other battle brothers . Thing is , for me its mostly some DA fans claiming they hate SW because they say they are just mindless drunken babarians ..........i mean COME ON.............those DA fans are the ones i hate , not the chapter itself , even though i do have certain opinions on how they treat other chapters or civilians......

Space Wolves, especially Russ, despised witchery. Magnus flaunted witchery, so there was always a strong dislike/mistrust. Much different scenario v/s Russ and the Lion fighting over who gets to decapitate the enemy first. But I guess I misread this thread. Are we talking fluff or real life players. I don't hate any player for any reason except for blatant cheating(using loaded dice for instance).

I would suggest keeping this thread on the fluff side of things or letting it go. We can't really address, or really know the extent of, real life gaming issues.

Nobody can speak for all SW players or all DA players with respect to how they feel about anything.

Why do space wolves players hate the thousand sons? You were sent there to arrest magnus i think but horus told you to destroy them. Leading them to join horus. So what bad things did the thousand sons do to you?

We invaded their homeworld on the word of the emperor, they invaded our homeworld in the name of spite. Bjeorn and the janitorial staff had to hold them at bay for a couple years while the great wolf *who was a bit of a snot sadly* got his act together and dropped planetside.

I believe that is another large cause of our hatred towards the sorcerors- they are one of two foes ever to be able to seige the Fang, and though they lost their stench remains.

Very simple.

Dark Angels = Cross Dressers in Space.

Space Wolves = AA meetings in Space.

We win.

Actually it was ol' Lionel who needed the AA treatment or does no one here know the DA's true secret (and it's not heresy!):

Cross dressing doesn't even come close to the dark truth

I certainly don't hate Dark Angels personally, in one of the games I've played my ally was a DA player and we both forgot about the feud untill we had bested the foe... Ragnar won the post battle duel though! My company must have been really drunk not to realise who they were fighting alongside!

hey guys, just jumping ship to this forum from my normal lurking in the DA side, personally i've always had a great like of SW, and see via the fluff of the heresy see them as the dark angels closest brother chapter. the whole theme is of brotherly competativeness, we challenge each other to push ourselves further than the other chapters ;) although there's been no involvement between DA and SW in the books thats what they're trying to push as the DA's "thing" brotherhood

and on a side note i have been tempted to start up a SW force in october to work alongside my DA's in apoc games, believe it's perfectly fine to have the two chapters working together. what say you brother wolves? would you stand by a space marine in his pyjama's?

Fluff-wise, I've always taken the feud as a very strong sibling rivalry 40 k style. Yes there are degrees of it from friendly jabs to isolated fire fights.

Second edition codex describes the two Primarchs as eventually becoming very close friends after their initial rough start.

And this is what Ive always emphasized. Kind of like LotRs Legolas and Gimli.

Notable friendships.

The Lion and Russ went on to become very close brothers. No other legion could compare to these two combined legions. Ragnar Blackmane knows about the Dark Angels secret.

See the fluff says the DA and SW marine chapters were pretty much unstoppable :P

Oh and Blackmane should make sure his tongue don't slip when he has had a few ale's........

I don't hate DA players for no reason, well I don't really hate them either. I just really don't like them mostly cause they're backstabbing, disloyal traitors more interrested in pursuing their own objectives and chasing the "Fallen" than they are in doing their duty to the Emperor or the Imperium. But maybe that's just me...
