while i agree on not knowing about the fallen i do believe there must be at least rumours about how unreliable the DA are when they simply ran off to hunt down one of the fallen while leaving a planet to die,no?

Well, I am a Dark Angels fan and it is sad to read that you also compare us (DA fans) to the ones who simply don’t understand Space Wolves. I love Dark Angels but also am trying to understand the Space Wolves popularity.

 

In this moment I could say that they are just savage, future like soldiers with advanced technological weaponry adorned with medieval talismans, animal belts and such stuff that I find don’t suit the warriors of the future. I mean yes they maybe accurate but for feudal worlds that live without technology and such…but I won’t compare them to that because I would reveal myself as a typical DA fan 

 

On the other hand following your deduction I could also say that typical for SW fan is to ‘hate’ DA fans just because the fluff say so. C’mon guys don’t be so much involved in this !!!!

 

I try to like space wolves but I don’t hate them at all !!! I just try to understand their place in the 41st millennium. The fact that I like most the monkish and mysterious warriors doesn’t mean I hate the Viking ones 

My friend and I were on different teams in a Doubles tournement, and whenever we'd fight we'd ignore the objectives, and duke it out :P Good ole champion style though he would cream my DA in shooting, and CC :(

In all honesty Space Wolves are The Norse Viking/Werewolves, and how is that not cool? Where-as Dark Angels are monestic knights trying to redeme their honor. Its a nice dynamic, both groups are honor based. yet they are different sides of the coin.

think about it, all it would take for a DA fighting next to you to retreat would be a rumour of a possible fallen so they could go chase that guy.

the only chapter i am sure of that we would have such a bond with would be the grey knights, having fought with them against angron and even then i think we would keep a distance

You would probably seek any chance to get them by any means because they would be a stain on your own honour – and this is where is Dark Angels honour – they try to redeem in the blood of any one of their fallen brethren. They have a very strong sense of respect and honour. I think you would surely do the same if any of your space wolf brothers become chaos worshippers. Saying that DA have no honour is almost a blasphemy ;)

He has a point. I wouldn't let traitors get away. However I don't think we could put so much effort into trying to hunt them. I mean we would get drunk and tell everyone about our brothers that renounced Russ and ale! We couldn't keep it secret but they certainly have honour, I mean they fight to regain their honour, and cover up the big mistake.

Well this has been brought up multiple times already in this thread... and answered multiple times, but anyway we'd hunt and kill traitors yes but at the expense of all other duties and oaths to the Emperor and the Imperium? Heck no. But that is exactly what the Dark Angels do. Regaining honor is all well and what not, but does that excuse the immense stain on their honor they make every single time they run off from a desperate battle, slaughter Imperial citizens, and in general disregard their oaths to the Emperor? Nope, restoring their honor is IMO not even remotely an excuse for the utterly dispicable behavior the DA exhibit in their hunt for the fallen.

 

So yea I'd say the DA have no honor, or at least any honor they do have is undermined as they are more concerned with removing a stain from 10,000 years ago, then fulfilling their duties in current times and that's why I can't stand the Dark Angels fluff.

I think what he (OnlyInDeath) meant was , in due respect is that an DE army would turn away from a battle right in front of them while others are at stake when they know the fallen are somewhere here and there

 

and that makes him and myself think its kinda........wrong. And yes there has so far been one SW turned Chaos case in the chaos codex and all fluff added, but thats just a dozen and more men compared to half a chapter >< But there was no report that SW have ever putting down thier work at hand to go after them , and in fact there werent even any special missions assigned to hunt those men down etc

 

in this i see some difference in DA and SW

 

DA: "You traitor , im going to hunt you down where ever you go ! And i dont care if my allies are on the way as i will make sure they are not there when im coming through to you."

SW: "Oh , we lost some brothers to chaos ! now we shall drink and do our daily duties and forget about them till we meet again. Wheres the ale ! ???"

 

PS: we SW dont keep traitors as secrets , they are pretty open to news like that.

I dont think DA running off in battle happens that often because they are well respected with a lot of imperial officers and I read some where that they could go for decades with out hearing anything about the fallen.

 

I think the SW will go to the DA when they need help but I dont know if the DA whould come if the SW would need help. SW and DA do hate each other but i think its like hate that two brothers have, that hate goes away when the other is in trouble.

they were alpa legion disguised as space wolves :( , but seriously, I like them both, the dark angels have the whole gothic, knight, honor driven theme, while the space wolves are almost more human than other marines(they remember their families), they are very trusting, barbarian like( i say 70% barbarian, 30%viking), and are just cool, but thats just what I think

Heh you know what guys ?? I‘d been collecting and playing Dark Angels since the 3rd edition and some time ago I decided to join the Space Wolves ranks . I sold my entire army to one DA fanatic.

I've always really liked the little bit of rivalry between the Wolves and the DAs. I feel that its the sort of thing where the two armies could call one another jerks, and then proceed to kick the tar out of one another. But if someone else came up and insulted either one of them, both would stop, give the interloper a sound thrashing and then return to beating on one another. The "Its okay for me to insult him, but if you insult him... I'll have to kill you" sort of thing.

As for players I find them to be mostly the good sort. They have the occasional beardy player...but so do the Wolves. One of my good friends plays Dark Angels and we get into it any time we play. He mostly compares the wolves to jockish fratboys with bad hygeiene and a love of large women names Bruenhilda. Meanwhile I compare him to a whiny little Emo baby, who cry into their plasma cannons intead of fighting (ahhh failed intractable rolls...I shall miss thee). I mean come on they're so angst filled even black wasn't emo enough for them. They angsted (I guess that can be a verb) so hard they turned green!

My favorite experience though involves that other DA player. We were on opposite ends of the same side in fairly large Apoc game against Chaos. Before the game I looked down the table to him and said "Meet you in the middle." He replied with "Race you there." Its that sort of rivalry that I think is the best part about the fued between these two Legions.

 

Note: Okay he beat me there...nurgle things dislike dying quickly...grumble grumble. But he would have never been able to hold the objective if my Wolves hadn't arrived and bailed him out. He admitted it himself...once. Never again though, he still talks about me getting there late in an attempt to steal his glory after he did all the real work. I offer to kick his teeth in on the battlefield if he wants to settle the score...

as far as i see it it's nothing like that at all actually, it's more like a your dad hit/tried to murder (remember, lion used a powerfist!!!) my dad thing under 9 year olds,you can tell those 2 won't be friends soon, especially not if they don't hang out often together, which is our case

 

really, if we would just be friends like that there's no explenation why we hit 100th sons as good as we do DA
