Brother Tancred
I was inspired by the art work in C:SM of the company flag for the Imperial Fist so I've painted this standard bearer I won yesterday at my LGW and decided to do a test model. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/DSCF1944.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/DSCF1945.jpg Please let me know what you think and I'll try and have a finished model soon. Brother Tancred
Cheers for the comment, but I like the shade of yellow I've used. It is different and not to bright and very easy to paint. Heres some close ups of what I've done so far (I always seem to miss at least one mold line), still needs some more work on the banner. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/IMG_1469.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/Untitled.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/IMG_1468.jpg I plan to add laurels around the banner as well as the motto "Fist of Dorn" and the legion number VII above the fist or in the gap along the bottom. More to come. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169924-imperial-fist-test-model/#findComment-2009000 Share on other sites
machinegod
I like the yellow, a bit more subtle than the other recent IFs. Somebody is gonna ask the question sooner or later, so I'm going for sooner. How did you paint the yellow, it looks like pure darksun, but it might just be the picture. Thanks for the comment, it is darksun with a devlan mud wash and then slightly watered down darksun again. Its lighter in real life but I'm thinking of adding a lighter highlight to create more depth to the paint scheme. But this is why I like the colour, it is really simple and I can paint an army up really quickly. chaplainmikey
I too prefer the darker and grittier yellow. The banner looks great, nice and clean freehand. What i really like though,is the blue fingers on the power fist. The colour makes the the fist appear to be energised. Cheers. Brother Tancred
A little more done to the banner and some more highlights done. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/IMG_1477.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/IMG_1475.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/IMG_1473.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/Imperial%20Fists/IMG_1474.jpg Cheers for the comment chaplainmikey Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169924-imperial-fist-test-model/#findComment-2010509 Share on other sites
Inquisitor Engel
Hello, fellow son of Dorn. ;) I like it, it is a bit understated and that's no bad thing, makes consistency much easier (and ultimately, something I struggle with on a daily basis with my brighter Fists). My only thing, and the reason I gave up on foundation paints for large areas, is that it looks a little thick in some places (joints, neckline and backpack stand out). Two layers would easily explain it. I'd see if you could find a way to get away with just one layer of Iyanden Darksun as even that watered down second layer is getting thick in places. But that's just me. ;) Keep up the good work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/169924-imperial-fist-test-model/#findComment-2010775 Share on other sites
Vash113
Looking good, the freehand is overall nicely done. Not sure I like the glow on the Power Fist but it's not bad either. I think the banner could use a bit more detail but that's just me. Hopefully my freehand banner for my Imperial Fists 3rd Company will look as good though.
