Sons of Orar Captain WIP

Recommended Posts

@ bigmalky: thanks, hope you still like the gold as that was only the basecoat!

@ verpine: funny you should say black and cream.... that's what my other half suggested too :) it seemed to be the only colour that would tie in with the overall colour scheme, so that's what I'm going with.

Latest Photos, (taken this morning as my son got up wanting fed :D)

Just a few bits and pieces left to now, the inside of the cloak, the purity seals on the left shoulder and the scarf on the banner (I'm away to borrow my brother's Bleached Bone today :)) and the blade of sword requires another few layers too. Oh and I need to tidy up the frag grenade, just incase it's visible!

comments and criticism welcome, this'll probably be the last set of WIP photos before I finish him now, which hopefully won't take long :)

Progress on the Captain is looking great. You've developed a very unique and creative looking red and it looks excellent on this model. The glossy crimson gems are probably my favorite part of the model, besides the emblem on the helmet. Also did you convert his left pad with the personal heraldry in anyway whatsoever, or is that how Sicarius comes when purchased?

@ Darth Potato: Thanks, I'm considering submitting the tutorial I made for the red to the Librarium, but I think I need to do an actual sequence of proper WIP photos first <_<. The heraldry on his left shoulder is how he comes in the blister, there was no conversion there.

@ twistinthunder: Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing your Stormblade and how your army develops. A wee suggestion if I may; when you start painting your troops up you could pick one of the other main battle companies and apply their company colours just to set your army apart and give them a little bit of history. I'm trying to compose a short backstory for the 5th right now, once I get it finalised I'll stick it up here .

@ brother varen: I wasn't sure either but I'm generally pleased with thow he's turning out. My only major irritation came when I went to glue his backpack on last night only to find it doesn't fit right! I think I've got it now though. Up next, a drop pod I think...

@twistinthunder: 3rd company sounds cool. Propellant? Are you using a Spray Gun by any chance?

@Kurasuke: Glad I helped someone else see it :) I really liked the armour style as well which was kinda what made me do this project. That and Sicarius's kick-ass rules ;)! I'd like to see how yours turns out....

@ikik: Thanks brother. This is actually the first time I've really gone to town highlighting black, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out :).

@Captain Mike: Most of the layers of paint were thinned down with water to achieve the smootheness, I've only really started doing this recently but it really does pay dividends in the end.

@Midas: Thankyou. If you haven't already you might like to check out my tutorial for it, just click the 'recipe for red' link in my sig :)

I've finally finished the Captain now, so head on over to my Sons of Orar thread in the Hall of Honour to see the finshed article. Fear not though more Sons of Orar goodness are coming soon in the form of a Drop Pod for one of the Tactical Squads.
