Since I bought two boxes of Assault on Black Reach I obviously had two identical space marine captains, which simply wouldn't do. But which HQ choice to make using the other? I started off by thinking of simple conversions I could do... changing out the backpack to make him stand out less, weapon swaps. Where I ended up going was not somewhere I ever saw myself, but from the Black Reach captain to this:

The way he is holding his 'psychic energy' implies sorceror to me more than psyker, but as I said, they're getting to the point of being renegades. Anyway, I could tell from the point at which I finished the conversion that he was going to kick ass. I was excited to paint him up so I did so, with this result:

Pretty Sweet, I think.

If you want to watch my progress as I try to build a realistic army out of two boxes of Black Reach check out my blog (in my sig).

He will be a part of my DIY chapter. There's a thread on my thoughts about it here. My only real opponent will be space marines, so I needed a fluff based reason for them to be fighting, and so my chapter is going to be loyalist-style renegade. Like relictors or soul drinkers, I guess. It's finding a reason for the company/chapter to break off that is proving difficult.
