Brother-Captain Laen Posted June 3, 2009 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Hello everyone! I found myself being pulled back into Warhammer 40k after a few years of inactivity. Not wanting to play my Tyranids anymore and wanting to play an army that can be as diverse as I want it to be I decided to play Daemon Hunters. The ability to induct pretty much any imperial unit or special character in the game sounds both interesting and fun! I am going to start out with 1 squad of Terms lead by my Brother-Captain, 2 Grey Knight squads both with one psycannon and one incinerator. I have not decided what I wanted to upgrade the Justicars with just yet. I will be planning to run with 2 regular land raiders and an inducted storm trooper squad or two mounted in chims or rhinos for anti-tank. I have been reading the Inquisition forums for a few days now and have come to really like this community. I have also read the post about the "Water Warrior" way of fighting a battle with the Grey Knights. I honestly can not wait to start training myself with this strategy. I will eventually expand my army to be led by inquisitors and induct space marines, imperial guard, and sisters of battle. I am just thrilled that I will be able to use a mix of armies to make my army truly stand out on the table as a mobile and very flexible army ready to burn the heretic and banish the daemons. I hope to eventually become a wisened member of this forum in the hopes that I to will one day be able to help new players understand the Daemon Hunters and enjoy the mystery, power, and hardships that I have learned that this army faces on the battle field. Yes, our trials are great -- both inside and out of the game -- but our faith remains strong -- both inside and out of the game. ;) I'm glad you found your way here. If I do say so myself, this is the best place to be if you love the Inquisition. Saxxon the Dragoon Posted June 6, 2009 Share Posted June 6, 2009 i also would like to welcome you brother captain laen, its great to have a fellow brother with such pure devotion on this board. as i see your list, it sounds nice, with some tank hunting ability, but i would suggest holding off on the 2 landraiders right off the bat, and get two TLLC/ML dreads, have about 2 full squads of PAGK, with atleast 1 psycannon in each squad (i would say incinerators are almost worthless) have a grand master, a GK termie squad as his retinue, and then induct whatever you need from whoever you need. it still gives you great power from DH forces, and gives you tank hunting abilities, and its a little easier on your points and wallet. if you really want some interesting fun, induct marines, take 2 full squads, load them out with say a heavy bolter, and lascannon, and take an ironclad dread with the hammer, 2 HK missiles, and the assault launchers, and take a few razorbacks loaded how you will and you got yourself a real mean mixed army with both troop and tank hunting capabilities. you could also mix sisters in there, but you would be better off with making a WH army you main army and just add DH. its your army, enjoy how you will, and again, welcome. I will be adding extra elements of inducties as I learn how to play the DHs. I am also working on the water tactics so I need to make sure that I can have an army that can move and shoot so I don't have to become stationary platforms to unleash the emperor's wrath. I would personally keep those first Grey Knight squads as just Storm Bolters to begin with. Play a few games, if you feel that they would have been of benefit, upgrade. I often have just one small squad with a single Psycannon as my base holder. Brother-Captain Laen Posted June 8, 2009 Author Share Posted June 8, 2009 Again, Thank you everyone! I will hopefully be getting my first squad of GK after the paycheck on the 20th. I am also working on converting some Catachan to be my stormtroopers. I'm thinking about using GStuff to make the armor similiar to the Catachan HQ guy. Which I think looks sweet. Another option I was thinking about was using them as they are and counting the armor as Tough Skin. I don't expect to ever be playing in any big tourneyments, this will just be for fun with some friends. Grand Master Caloth Posted June 10, 2009 Share Posted June 10, 2009 Im also new to this community, tho I have been leading my forces against the hated Enemy for the last 200 (2) years. Currently i command a force of 2500 pts, including a Land Raider and two honored Brother Dreadnoughts, 7 Terminators as my retinue, 4 tactical squads, a fast strike team, and a partner Inquisitor, tho he remains in orbit on the Strike Cruiser. Pictures of my forces to be posted later. In the mean time, I and my Brothers greet you whole-heartedly.
