Starting Space Wolves

Hi, im new to these forums and new to the hobby in general, but even though im mainly in it for the modelling and painting than gaming, i still think that space wolves look cool and i like all the fluff behind them so i just have a couple of questions?

Firstly, i ordered a box of grey hunters and i want to know, whats the difference between this and an ordinary tactical squad, i understand some of the hands are different and there are a couple of extra CCW's but is this all? Is it the tactical squand AND a space wolf accessories sprue or does the space wolf sprue replace something?

and the space wolf color scheme seems to be primarily blue/greyish but does it matter that much because i'd rather go with a more darker grey look. From what i've seen the main colors are grey with black and red on the shoulders, so could i do them mainly grey and do the knee-pads red or something like that to add variety?

thanks.

Welcome!

The Wolf sprue replaces the tactical upgrade sprue, we have no missile launcher or plasmagun/flamer. But we get a powrerfist and two power weapons which is what we need.

People paint their wolves in all different greys. We even had someone here asking about doing them as Red Wolves so there is no problem, mine are actually shadow grey

At least you're not asking what to add to an army! (Because we don't really know at the minute!)

Hope this helps

Welcome to the Fang, Read the SW rules, and the B&C rules

As for your questions, It is the normal tactical squad with a SW sprue but without the special weapons of the normal box (flamer, rocket lancer)

As for the colors, there is so much that you can do, I use Shadow gray others use fortress gray, Have a little look here and find out what you like.
