Avarris
Hi all. In the last few games I've played I've been shredded, mainly by bolter fire (I play against SM alot in my local Store resulting in Gunlines). I feild a Tzeentch based force but no 1k Sons (may change soon). My army currently consists of: 30 CSM (4 Plasma Guns, 2 Melta, 3 Champs with PF) 10 Terminators, Terminator Sorcerer, Termie Lord with Deamon Weapon 3 Chaos Bikers (2 Meltaguns and PF) 10 Chosen (2 Flamers and 3 Power Weapons) with Rhino Lascannon Pred. What Im wondering is what do you think would really help me against these gun lines. Im trying to keep to a pure Plastic army to save on weight. What I've been thinking of getting next is a 1k Sons unit (going to convert these so they fit in with my Army as 1k sons themselves wont look right), a second Pred or a Vindicator for some nice AP2 pie plates. Which do you think would be best? I am open to suggestions for anything else preferably plastic ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170193-looking-for-some-help/ Share on other sites
chillin
I'm I understanding that the 3 units of csm's have no rinos ?? If so that's a huge part of the problem right there. Termi lords and termi sorc both too slow, DS termi HQ is a very bad idea also. A unit of 10 termi's is very expensive for what it can actually do. Same with bikes. tri'LC pred too expensive for something that can be taken out in 1 shot. I think: A- you have a poor army list and B- b/c of the difference in speed of your different units you are being taken out piece-mill. I am correct, no ? Avarris
pretty much. Each unit is just getting taken out either slowly over the game or taken out in 1 turn as everything opens fire on them. chillin
Yea, you need to get rinos so your whole army can hit at the same time. Also you need to lose all the slow and/or expensive stuff like the termi HQ's, 10 man termi squad, bikes and tri'LC pred. Zhukov
Yep total make-over. Give the squads rhinos, all of them. Will help greatly. If you dont want metal Princes, that a problem. Then you either have to seek a plastic one or give in. As Princes are mandatory if you want to play competative. go with 2x Winged princes I say, the more againts meq armies. Use termies in 3 man with combi melta, or if all those people dont have LR and play gunline ( :) ) go with combiplasmas. Obliterators!! Marines hate them. If you are willable to change your troops too: Plague marines and berzerkers! Again marines dont like them... Most hated units from marines points of view: -Plague marines (also in rhinos!) -Oblits -2 Princes, NOT 1. Sons of Horus
if i were you i'd make it more fluffy meaning replace the vanilla CSMs with rubric marines :P give the termies MoT. give everything MoT for that matter :P a DP with MoT, wind of chaos, and warptime is a great choice as well. it makes an awesome killer. the only downside here will be the points cost :P the very reason i quit playing 1k sons and moved to WE  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170193-looking-for-some-help/#findComment-2011071 Share on other sites
Rahveel
on the subject of plastic princes, are they not releasing a new one this summer? I actually like the fact that your army seems to have been chosen from units you think look cool (since its pretty obvious there was not a lot of tactical consideration :D ) and might make a few recommendations that would let you keep using them. not ultra competitive, but maybe a tad better than current. 1) if you want termie HQ's in a termie squad, they really need to go into a land raider. its not the all time best choice, but it is better than Deepstriking those expensive HQ. 2 squads of 4, each with one of the HQ's. if you felt the need, the other 2 could be converted into oblits! 2) your chosen need focus, consider their role carefully. I personally like to field CC chosen in fun games, but most consider them to be best in a support weapon role. 3-4 flamers (5 is a bit overkill) or loaded down with plasma (just be prepared for their quick demise). if your opponents like to run mechanized lists, a few meltaguns can also be nice. 3)your bikers look pretty good for their intended role (anti-tank), but probably do not need to be spending the extra 40 points on the champ with p/w. perhaps replace him with an IoCG, as they will try to run the first time they take a casualty. 4) the lascannon pred.... well.. I personally have little love for preds (i might run a dakka pred once in a blue moon). if it were mine, i would rip off the weapons, use them for your oblit conversions, and you have a rhino for one of your CSM squads. I did this with mine recently... anyway, there is my $.02 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170193-looking-for-some-help/#findComment-2011204 Share on other sites
