maligncomedy
Well, I've been a little away for a while. Been busy. I had to help finish my brother's chapter. Literally. All companies 1st to 9th (He decided to ditch doing a Scout Company) as well as a Chapter Master. I did all the building, he did all the painting. Now, not saying number wise, that the statement is entirely accurate, but there is an army for each company. As well as extra marines still being painted up for the chapter (I think we might actually have enough marines for a chapter almost, he had bought around 6 Dreads, 10 Battle Companies, god knows how many dark angel's upgrade sprues/bits. The entire chapter is robed). So that took the majority of my time. I quit chaos. Sold the Huron locally, and decided to build my own chapter this time. And do it properly and fully. So here's some pictures from the beginning: http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_1211.jpg http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_1212.jpg ^My Vulkan He'stan "counts-as". I have yet to greenstuff/file the symbols off him. He'll also be getting the "Guantlet of the Forge" that is coming out with the Vulkan He'stan Model. It'll go on his left arm obviously. I must thank Sylus off these boards for this idea. He did a Sanguinus with it, and it really inspired me. I might switch his weapon top with a sword blade of some type though, since that glaive is gigantic. http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_1214.jpg http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_1215.jpg ^I had a spare Storm Bolter, tassel, Levet/Lortok Helm and Torquemada body (god, I have tons of those). So naturally I drilled his head off again, stole an ork power klaw off my friend (again, I buy him a box of boyz everytime in return though) and rebuilt the Huron model conversion except with a gun. I figure he'll make a nice Pedro Kantor "counts-as". Once again, pre-greenstuff. His head may be switched for a Black Templar Crusade Helm http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_1216.jpg http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_1217.jpg ^And now a little preview of some of the stuff you can expect for a Kayvaan Shrike conversion. I'm using the scythe as a stand-in for the Raven's Talons (rending, lightning claws seemed alright to me). Just waiting on his bits at the moment. He is going to be modelled kneeling down, with the scythe in one hand and the other one touching the ground, his head (the helm in the pic, it looks kinda like Nightmare's from the Soul Calibur series to me though) looking forward slightly, with Mechanical wings spread out on his back. As if he is getting ready to take flight after checking some tracks. This idea is just random, I might not use that head, in favour of a Robed Crusade head, and I may not even use the model. http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/IMG_0930.jpg ^Guess who never got painted. Chapter Champion #3. Yes I have built three of that guy. I bought in total, about 5 boxes of the Masters of Chapter set (and a few Emperor's Champions/Ushabti), and I still have tons left to work with Yes, I am building special characters at the moment. Trying to decide which one I will use mainly. I intend to do a Cassius, Shrike (as mentioned before), Khan, Lysander and Sicarius before I decide which ones to use (I strongly dislike Calgar and Tigerius). Once that is done, I will go right to the army lists. Then I'll order some stuff. It looks like one of the companies I do will be Pedro Kantor, PAGK, Sternguard, Tactical Marines (with the exception, that I am ordering 4 packs of the Deathwatch conversion pack for the 2 troops choices of Tacticals to make them look more elite) and their respective vehicles. I figure that would be a worthwhile stand-in as a Vetran or 1st Company. If you guys have any constructive criticism, ideas feel free to toss some my way. I'm working on fluff right now, and some ideas might be helpful. So far it seems that the 1st Company will all have served in the Ordo Xenos/Deathwatch at some point, and the Chapter will have strong ties to the Inquisition. Furthermore, I am completely lost for a paint scheme. So If you have any idea at all about what would look good on these models, please oh please share. Terminatorinhell
what head did you use, it actually looks a lot like Nightmare as you said :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170298-a-little-update-from-my-workshop/#findComment-2012125 Share on other sites
maligncomedy
The head that I said look's like Nightmare's is from Reaper Miniatures. Same goes for the Glaive and Scythe. I have tons of bits left from them. And they do have some pretty interesting things if you are looking for maces to be Crozius or Swords. Anyone think a Dark Metallic Blue would be a good color? maligncomedy
hmmm Dark metallic blue would be great, just like Nightmare! I like to use three colors, so what others should I add? I was thinking a metallic Ice Blue esque color and Dark silver color. Sound any good? maligncomedy
Here's a paint scheme I tried out: http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/P1090530.jpg http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr301/maligncomedy/P1090531.jpg ^Not one I am using. Shrike will be painted in a different scheme, considering my friend wants him XD. I'll be doing him with a few alterations in concept as well. But for the note, some of my army will be popping up soon in terms of pics. The paint scheme is relatively nice. Decided on Steampunk Marines. And am not gonna comprimise that.
