katarn
thes are a few pic's for my chapter that i have been working on. I quite like them as i have only been playing and painting since november. Be honest though in your oppinions as it is the only way i will get better. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb292/ponk23/DSC00365.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb292/ponk23/DSC00371.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb292/ponk23/DSC00369.jpg http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb292/ponk23/DSC00367.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170456-storm-of-terra-my-diy-chapter/ Share on other sites
Terrible_Trygon
Those GW washes are a God send aren't they? B) Anyways, I suggest painting your lenses up and painting the purity seal wax green so that it contrasts better with the red armour. Also... MOLD LINES - GET RID OF THEM :D Anyways, looking good so far. Nice scheme too. All in all, you have made a fine start on the hobby. Be proud. Cypher 102
Interesting color scheme, I like it! Pretty good free hand for just starting. I'm still working on it myself. Keep in mind that most of painting is going back and correcting. Another quick run of the surrounding color can help make those free hands look a lot straighter. I'd also suggest going back and hitting some of the small details like grills, skulls, and as trygon said the eyes. Some other things for later: I like to use the brush on gloss varnish for things like gun scope lenses to give them a bit of shine. Also a pin vice or hobby drill is great for drilling out those gun barrels. It's a bit of stuff to learn but just keep adding a little bit to your skills at a time. Outstanding work for only eight months in the hobby! katarn
cheers for the reviews guys. I do love the washes as you can tell, never used them on my death wing but they are great at bringing this new colour skeme togethe. I will re do the seals and eyes as that is a very good idea Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170456-storm-of-terra-my-diy-chapter/#findComment-2013867 Share on other sites
Rapture747
Looks good but where are the scouts goggles? They can't see through just the metal in front of their eyes. Race Bannon
If you can drill out the barrels it will go a long way. Tedious but cool. Otherwise good show :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170456-storm-of-terra-my-diy-chapter/#findComment-2014161 Share on other sites
ThomKovacs
I really like the colour scheme, did you mix up those colours yourself? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170456-storm-of-terra-my-diy-chapter/#findComment-2014232 Share on other sites
katarn
i realised i forgot the googles after i sprayed them. think i will paint them so they look like some kind of visor. the colours are just foundation paints, mechrite and dheneb stone Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170456-storm-of-terra-my-diy-chapter/#findComment-2014701 Share on other sites
horus333
Very nice! C&C: you could paint the eye lenses. Also, I think I saw mould line on the first one, get a needle file for that. And put some black wash on that metallic paint on the gun. verpine
Very nice job. Nice job on the terminator hazard stripes. I think you should: -Put a little silver on the scout's gauntlet's skulls. -For the terminators' crux terminus you should do the sides with bleached bone, only the top is painted... if you get what i mean. -Base them (if someone didn't already say that). - Put a black wash on the terminator's gun. -Make the purity seal's wax stand out more... paint it blood red maybe? - Write something on the captain/sergeant's "loin cloth" (or whatever the cloth thing hanging in front of his crotch is) -I don't really like the harness thing on the captain/sergeant's chest being red.... maybe make it silver. But that's just me. -GET RID OF MOLD LINES!!!!!!! :tu: Those are my thoughts. Slyfox1990
I personally think thats a really nice colour scheme. Different to some of the other stuff that tends to crop up. Sometimes the simplest things can also look the best. Is it just mechrite and dheneb with a wash of badab then? Or something else? I hope that you wont be offended when I say that I have pretty much stolen your colour scheme, with some very minor alterations. It was just too attractive to not be stolen.
