It has been trying to continue to play SW within certain groups, hearing the OMG your list is so broken, or omg your codex needs to be redone. What i found interesting to watch was how many peoples all comers lists changed to incorporate something to deal with the SW's on the chance that i played against them.

 

And again i'm hearing that my codex is broken because while everyone is losing to the guard i'm still destroying them. I think what a lot of this boils down to is people are upset that we still have a wargear section and get to use it and they don't. Well what i tell them is play SW or learn how to beat them, stop crying to me about how you think my book is broken, just because you don't like it doesn't mean i'm going to stop playing it.

You guys are lucky, besides Noise marines, you guys seem to be the only ones who act with fun. Aka drinking and tavern wenches

Yea, broken or too old to play, the best is when you get them both in one game within earhost of the player who just had a comment the other way. When they say we're old and broken, I tell of of any other number of sick combinations the other new fangled codexs have. And when they say we're an old outdated codex...well my Sons of Russ will take on anything you care to throw at us, I may not win, but if I die, I shall die with my hands around your throat, with ale and praises to the Allfather on my last breath.

 

Ohh and I agree wholeheartedly, I've seen good gernerals with really old armies come in and slap around any of the newer stuff. All things being equal, sure I'd say codex creep is a fact of life. But the person behind that army makes the biggest difference.
