what invulnerable save do space wolf hqs have?

Well,

 

Wolf lord: None, can give him belt of Russ (4+, 25 points) or storm shield (3+ 10 points but no additional weapon)

WGBL: Same as above

Rune Priest: Same as above

Wolf Priest: 4+ standard

Ven dresd: It's a dread! :P

There is no need for all caps. A simple answer with a nod that the answer is in the codex or in the FAQ should suffice. There's no need to be belligerent. If it does bother you than ignore the post and thread and simply do not respond.

I wouldnt do this normally. Its 25pts, wich is alot in an army like ours. On the other hand, a stormshield is 10pts, but takes up a valuable weapon slot.

 

So my advice is, if you want the invulnerable on your HQ, and your running less than 1850, you need to take a Wolf Priest- it also nets you LD 10! wich is absolutely amazing in a SW army. I generally upgrade mine with a plasma pistol and frags, and maybe healing potions and balms if I have extra points at the end of my list.

 

And before it comes up, Healing Potions are like the old narthecium of 3rd edition, similar to the current dark angels one- no feel no pain saves.

Well I currently run 5 HQ's and all have an Invulnerable save and they are the following:

 

Wolf Lord - Belt of Russ

Wolf Priest - Rosarius

Wolf Guard Battle Leader - Terminator Armor

Wolf Guard Battle Leader - Terminator Armor

Rune Priest - Terminator Armor

 

I like Terminator Armor because it's cheap and effective granting both a 2+ Armor Save and a 5+ invulnerable without limiting weapon options much. I can't stand HQ's without an invulnerable save and Termie armor is a fairly effective and cool looking way to do it.

Terminator Armor can still be nasty, you can give him anything other than a pistol. A Storm Bolter is fine, or you could give him a Storm Shield to increase the Inv Save and keep the cheap 2+ save or you can give him another cc weapon of some kind for another attack, or a Storm Bolter etc. Plasma Pistols are expensive and not really that practical IMO.
waddya mean hotheaded mikal wolfheart!? problem i have is that 25+pts is kinda a bit expensive in my eyes, in the end i chose to bite the bullet and go for terminator armour and a plasma pistol with frost blade.

right, here is my finalised wolf lord and retinue:

 

wolf lord

storm bolter

terminator armour

wolf tooth necklace

frag grenades

meltabombs

 

then retinue (going cheap here):

 

5x wolf guard

assault cannon

2x thunder hammers

2x storm shields

2x storm bolters

2x frost blades

chainfist

terminator armour

wolf pelt

1) WL cant have a WTT, Frags or Meltabombs. Sorry.

2) You cant have Frostblades on WGBGs, note there is no cost for them on the wolf gaurd side of the slash... I reccommend replacing said blades with lightning claws, it also saves you five points.

3) Do yourself a HUGE favor, get runic Charms for these guys- a rerollable 2+ armor save has made my five man unit as survivable as a 10 man unit before, if not more so. Since your paying the price of 10 codex termies, why not get all the toughness of them?

Basically, what Grey Mage said. Runic charms are nigh on mandatory, a re-rollable 2+, even if it is only once will often save you 45-60pts of Terminator, and that's valuable. Also, there is nothing more demoralising to the enemy than watching 2 tactical squads open up with everything, force one failed save which promptly gets passed on the re roll.

 

Then having the Termies gut both squads over two turns.

I am. You see in the armor page, the little "t" symbols on certain wargear items? Those are the only wargear bitz a terminator can take- though the FAQ added on WTNs and a couple other bitz, however WTT were very much absent, though I think they were present in the 4rth ed faq, but thats sadly neither here nor there.
