Zerib
Hopefully I am not taken, tied to a post and burned as a heretic for this, but what is everyone's view as to using normal SM for GKs? I will doing conversions but they will not be the tell tail silver color nor the GK models. Thank you in advance. veidin
Dont think it'd be a problem except that Grey Knights wear Aegis armour and use Nemesis Force weapons. Chainswords and normal SM power armour doesnt do GK look and feel justice. Also they dont use bolters or bolt pistols but storm bolters that are wrist mounted and able to be used as an additional CC weapon so long as they dont charge. Would be a tough conversion. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170766-count-as-in-regards-to-grey-knights/#findComment-2017661 Share on other sites
Aidoneus
Honestly, if you glued two bolters together for each model, and used the NFW bitz bundle to give them all their force weapons, I'd call it close enough. The real point of WYSIWYG is so that your opponent is fully aware of what your models represent, and how they are armed. So as long as their weaponry is clear and your opponent is fully aware they're GKs (easy enough with the weapons and the fact that you'd tell him you're playing a GK army), it should be fine. I'm not sure how kosher this would be at a tournament, for for a friendly pick-up game it should be just fine. Hella cheap too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170766-count-as-in-regards-to-grey-knights/#findComment-2017744 Share on other sites
A_POINTED_STICK
Well, realistically, the arm mounted stormbolter would be even less wieldy and probably fired in short bursts to maximize effectiveness. I don't think a pistol and an arm mounted stormbolter would be very differently statistically, and the pistol allows for the additional melee hit representing close quarters fire. Vanguard with full power weapons and the sergeant with a relic weapons or honor guard would easily fill the role. What does any of that have to do with the op's question? Did you reply to the wrong post? Just curious. A_POINTED_STICK
Yes, that would be a decent count as list for Grey Knights. Marneus Calgar as an mighty Grandmaster. Honor Guards as Grey Knights with power weapons and pistols. Terminators as Terminators with Cyclone launcher as a psychic power. Tactical Marines for required troop choices. Vanguard in Rhinos as more power weapon wielding Grey Knights. I was misunderstanding him. I thought he wanted to do Grey Knights using a Marine list rather than Converted Marines for a Grey Knight List. My fail. In terms of modeling Grey knights using plastics, there's plenty of stuff on terminators, and for infantry there are Empire Halberds for Nemesis weapons and normal marines using similar helmet conversions and some parts from the black templars crusaders and dark angels veteran sprues will give you the stuff you need to convert up some GKs. No idea as to stormbolters, but I'm sure someone can piece it together.
