chris-kirky
never tried lighting myself but im sure it will suit him. The eavy metal version looked pretty awesome dont you think as do most of there characters. try and portray his sneaky skills off deff with the base lol. i have found the WD and that boss looks amazing! I would go for a more non traditional green for the skin though as you see too much bright greens. Maybe go for what you said about the muted green/brown theme. have you started your entrys yet? i will try get some pics of the jetbikes and pm you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170829-tips-for-youngbloods-in-golden-demon/page/2/#findComment-2023590 Share on other sites
DeffWolf
ye lol, i totally agree. i think the eavy metal models are incredibly good, and i aspire to be that good. however there are some really good painters on cmon, could even contend with the eavy metal. what do you think would suit snikrot on a base? twistinthunder
a swamp or something would suit snikrot as hes a kommando. no i haven't started my model(s) yet as i dont have have them im going to try and get them this weekend or something. im doing a terminator with lightning claws. (thinking of doing a green/yellow half scheme, but i dont know what to do with the helmet.) chris-kirky
ye i would go with green/yellow as they will score high with them being fairly hard colours to get to grips with. for the helmet maybe go for a white? i agree on the swamp base also. working on my marines at this moment so may have up pics in few days Anyone have any suggestions as which program i could use to crop the pics? i dont have photoshop and i heard it is expensive. Any good free ones? cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170829-tips-for-youngbloods-in-golden-demon/page/2/#findComment-2023639 Share on other sites
DeffWolf
no idea mate, you might as well just post them as they are if you're stuck. i never thought of a swamp, sounds pretty good :P. also, twistinthunder - as a tip and precaution, maybe do the black and yellow danger stripes on his gauntlets to draw people's eyes, and have a more neutral colour like bone to contrast the green, and the precaution being, be patient with yellow - it's a bugger to paint and with the danger stripes, maybe use masking tape cos straight lines are pretty difficult. chris-kirky
i have just in the past few weeks developed an addiction to painting hazzard stripes! strange i know. i have just decided that i am going to do a captain/vet sarge with a storm shield. Gives me an oppurtunity to do some freehand and will provide a great vocal point. chris-kirky
its the flat surfaces. there are many good examples of great freehand work on storm shields which have won demons. for example the black templar which won bronze at uk 2008 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/170829-tips-for-youngbloods-in-golden-demon/page/2/#findComment-2023703 Share on other sites

chris-kirky
i dont want to post pics of other peoples models but if you want to see some good pics type in golden demon on google and go on the unofficial golden demon site. if you wanna see what im talkin about on shields go on the uk 2008 section and it is on single 40k catagory i am going to attempt something like that just not as ambitious for my stripes i have used a brown basecoat then shaded/highlighted from a mix of fiery orange and scorches brown up to golden yellow or maybe lyanden darksun depending on the shade that you want. DeffWolf
lol, looks like we've got our very own youth community here :P i'm definitely going to be painting at least 3 models in the time before golden demon, and then i'll choose. i'd probably use scorched brown for the hazard stripes and then iyanden darksun just because they have a lot of colour pigments. anyway, whats s-e nmm fonejacker?
