the wrath of khan!

Recommended Posts

Well I got the brillaint idea to make a korsarro counts as for my army, the confessors, and decided to post the wips so far here.

Unfortunately, the upper body went missing so i've been forced to improvise by rummaging through my bitzbox. anyway, here are pics so far:

a few questions I need opinion on

1) the head. replace for a helmetless one, robed one or give the current one a horse hair crest?

2) the weapon. spear or a power flail?

3) front faring. should I sculpt onto the wings to make them look firey too?

4) track on back/rear armor. should I make the armor covering the track low to the ground, or extend it from the seat area? Keep in mind, the back armor will have gas tanks attached to a brazier of flaming skulls, so what would look cooler.

thanks for looking guys, hope to get some c&c shortly! (and to give credit where credit is due, pics are by my fiance)

++edit++ pics now work ++edit++

Cause your not sticking direct image links in, people is lazy and it's time consuming to have to open the pics in a new window, wait for the page and image to load, then close the window and do it all over again. Just stick a direct image tag in, like so:

Easy peasy.

This looks good so far but i don't feel like it resemble khan just yet but , i'll be watching to see how this fleshes out

Well unless I'm mistaking his intent it's not supposed to be the White Scar Captain Kor'sarro Khan but a DIY character who uses Khan's rules.

Anyway as for your initial questions a spear would look cool I think but a mace or flail might work depending on what you intend to use. The head should remain as it is I think. A horse hair crest wouldn't fit the style and I like it without the hood. Perhaps a crown of spikes or something.

I think the front faring looks good the way it is, you should just leave the wings as they are and it looks great, maybe you could expand the flames around the skull but otherwise I wouldn't do too much to it.

Finally as for track armor I wouldn't add too much, you want the tracks to be at least somewhat visible after all, I'd focus the armor around the gas tanks.

Minor update (no pics yet) added track armor in the back and some gas tanks. put the bitz order in as well.

Thanks for the comments guys!

ill try and fix that thanks for the tip.

That was indeed the intention, this is for my diy army.

im also debating using the axe from the huron blackheart kit, as I have it in my bitzbox.

would a chaos marauder horseman head suit this model better I wonder? The helmet looks good IMO, but when I greenstuffed on fur to the shouders it gave it a more feral appearance.

More pics coming folks, I'll have 'em up by Sunday

Are you looking for a feral or a medieval look? The helmet looks more knightly but the marauder head looks much more feral and is swinging you more towards Space Wolf and White Scar looks. I think you'd be better off keeping the helmet and adding something more suited to your chapter to it. Not a romanesque horshair crest but perhaps an iron Halo crest, just chop a halo nearly in half and glue that on there, looks pretty good, or a crown of spikes/thorns, perhaps a burning skull crest of some kind.

As promised, more pics up before sunday!

Got some work done on the rear armor for the khan conversion. This was made from whirlwind tank parts and plasticard. the fuel tanks are from imperial guard flamers (and still need intake cables to feed into the brazier when it arrives)

The shrine is from the 40k terrain sprues, it's purely decorative.

here's the side shots to show off the new armor:

Quick question: should I replace the helmeted head with a non helmeted head featuring a handlebar mustache ala this pic here (have sicarius' head lying around, I know it's doable)

moustachioed!

And lastly, before I go, a teaser image for another project I will be featuring here shortly (cookie to whoever comments and says what it's gonna be)

More pics to come when I get greenstuff and the corpse cart brazier, til then... ciao! :)

how does it turn?

I'd imagine with some difficulty. The front faring (the shield on the front) in my mind houses a special driving mechanism similar to a motorcycle, where the "wheel" inside turns seperately from the tracked body. Granted, since this vehicle is designed to be part tank, for stability purposes (bikes seems too flimsy for a marine to be riding around on) it would probably involve slowing to about 5-10 mph or even to a full halt before engaging the turn. If I was to make a real world comparison, I'd say it would drive very much like an 18 wheeler.

If nothing else, chalk it up to rule of cool-- just like half of the things in the 41st millenium, it's a game-- not a lesson in vehicular engineering.

So after a few snowmobile comments from buds, I have removed the track system and am in the process of making this into an "armored trike" it'll look sturdier than it is now, and shouldn't be as long.

Likewise, i got my vampire counts corpse cart brazier to go on the back after a week of waiting.

well if you're going for a medieval themed style i would suggest a lance

burgundian heavy cavalery had a lance as their first weapon, and a mace as their secondary

I cleaned up an old chaos warrior lance I had in my bitz box, so as of now he does have a "power lance" I might try and add a pommel/handguard to it for a more traditional look, and am tossing around the idea of building a bolt pistol into said pommel/handguard.

Ah this is started to take shape and look even better now

I assure you, it will look even better when I get the new pics up this weekend. :) in the meantime, i have a lot of work to do.

Oh, and I'll be attempting a very unique crest/mohawk for the helmet-- a crest made out of greenstuffed human vertebrae before this project is done so stay tuned!

hate to double post but got some update pics for you all. Managed to work a chaos termie lord cape onto the model. Im in the process of making it into the trike, thats why its missing the treads and back section.

and here's the beginnings of an alternate head for this guy- based off the sicarius head. He now has a full beard and not just a handlebar mustache.
