A Tale of 2 Armies: White Scars & Storm Lords

Howdy.

I am beginning this project by doing 2 armies. I cannot decide which white army looks better. The WHite Scars or their Successor the Storm lords.

As such I am going to do both armies, keep the one I like the best and put the other up to a new home. Either way I am going to end up with a very nice looking army of the Khan.

I plan to do several minor conversions to help with the mongol theme and managed to pick up some of the older White Scar Bikes. There will be some units on foot, as I think to leave them out is silly, but for the most part everything will be mounted or deepstriking.

Additionally, my purpose with this project is to practice White. I think I have a pretty good grasp of how to make White look good and not pasty, but helps learn color usage like painted a few dozen models.

Anyhoo, some pictures below.

Bizarre Bizaar is a wonderfull thing. Well over 40 bikes and 6 speeders for under $200. Now all I need is some simple green and a big bucket.

Very noice! May I suggest a wash of badab black on the black areas instead of just painting it black? Gives it a little depth whilst still having the blackness.

I can't wait to see those bikes painted as I'm in a big bike-wanting-craving- kinda mood...

Howdy.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention, these are just the base colors, they still need shading and highlighting. These are by no means done, maybe closer to halfway. It may take a while to ultimately finishing, but there is more painty goodness to come. :)

Howdy.

So I made some progress today on the White Scar. Not too much, just some shading on the white and shading & highlighting on the red.

Overall I am pleased with how this is turning out. I think it will really pop once I finish highlighting the white. Not sure if I am going to do any weathering or battle damage. I think, at least right now, thatthey look better crisp and clean.

Anyhoo, pictures below. C&C Always welcome.

The shading on the white looks great! takes the mini to a whole nother level

They look great so far, I think the Scars will look better in the end though. BTW, please excuse my ignorance.... but what is a Bizarre Bizaar?

Bizarre Bizaar was an event held at GWs where players got to go in and set up shop to see their own minis.

Howdy.

Little progress this week. Last night I was able to finish the white on the White Scar and the Storm Lord.

Initially, I am quite impressed with the White Scar. The Storm Lord looks bland by comparision, but it really needs to have the red and yellow finished up before I can make a proper judgment on how they look.

Anyhoo, I am still waiting for my White Scar shoulder pads to show up, and I need to make the ones for the Storm Lord.

I am going to do some work on the Storm Lord tonight and hopefully his basic colors will be done this evening except for the bolt gun and arm.

Anyhoo, C&C always welcome.
