onlyme
Painted this up for a mates 30th. It's a couple of days late, but I think it's turned out all right. It's finshed other than a coat of matte varnish. Feedback most welcome.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/ Share on other sites
hidje
May I be the first to compliment you on your gold. It is really aces. I'm no real fan of the grey left arm, but that's personal opinion:p Overall a brilliant model Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2021518 Share on other sites
Cypher 102
I've only got two things: the gray shoulder pad looks like it could use more shading, and the base is kind of lacking. I would put some interesting do-dad or another on the base. Also there are some imperfections showing on the side of the base. This is a great looking model. Very good work. sword brethren
wow, looking great, Id say the grey looks fine, though i would have had mithril or boltgun metal, i just like the metallic effect. onlyme
Thanks for the feedback. The grey was really an attempt to find something really contrasting with the gold - I kinda like it but then I am bias  . The base is pretty dull but then again I completely ran out of patience with the model and wanted to get back to my My WIP Army so it's lucky to have one at all ;) Hopefully my mate will like it, it's a surprise  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2021653 Share on other sites
Drudge Dreadnought
Excellent gold, and the head is very well done. Most non-helmeted marines make me want to shoot myself. I like they grey arm, but perhaps a black wash on it? Also the backpack could use some stronger highlights i think. ShinyRhino
Grey arm looks neat. Is that some sort of script or litany freehanded in tiny dots there? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2022551 Share on other sites
Cypher 102
The text in the gray area is raised detail from the original sculpt of the model. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2022612 Share on other sites
verpine
(Dumb question but) It's true-scale, right? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2023467 Share on other sites
Cypher 102
It's an inquisitor range model. These are 54mm scale. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2023492 Share on other sites
ferrum proeliator
It's minis like this one that make me want to start playing inquisitor. Great Work. Not so sure about the base though... R-code
Fantastic model!! I have to say the base looks like a bit of an afterthought, especially when compared to the top-notch work you did on the rest of the figure. The gaps between the base and the uneven texture of the paint are really brought out by that bright silver and it's pretty distracting. ~Mike~ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2023916 Share on other sites

tastytaste
Once you explained your reason for the grey arm It really makes sense. Makes the whole model really stand out. MRCHAOS
If you added battle damage to the armour it would make it complete! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2024546 Share on other sites
onlyme
Thanks for all the positive feedback... I'm going to have to look at the base but don't have a huge amount of time; I'm handing the model over on saturday night and I still havn't varnished the :) thing (don't ask). I'll have a think about the base but if I'm going to change it it will have to be saturady morning :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171069-smurf-for-a-mate/#findComment-2024639 Share on other sites
