Spacefrisian
On the 4th of july they will be holding a Planetstrike/ apoc battle, and i was thinking about 3000 point Droppod madness (with a few deepstriking Landspeeders) Now i was wondering what you would take in a Planetstrike based armie. As for now i was thinking that Logan and 5 Wolfguard in TDA in droppod would be a nice start. hendrik
i'd rather take ragnar with wolf guard bodyguard, think he's even better then logan actually perhaps a 3 AC pod of doom and a 3 CML pod of doom?back up the whole time by a PA wolf priest with HPAB's to keep them alive, would hate to face that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171078-planetstrike/#findComment-2021638 Share on other sites
Durfast Spiritwolf
What I've heard of Planet Strike means that it will have many features similar to Cities of Death. In Apoc and with a DP only army, a Vortex Grenade may be vital in countering any Titan/Heavy Tanks/Gargants etc but a Thunderhawk would be even better. I agree that pods of doom are great - I especially like the AC version. Vassakov
Multiple Dreads in Pods will be the first order of the day, for me. Possibly 3, plus a pack of Wolf Scouts for the Elites. The problem will be whether Marine Squads in Pods can assualt off the DS, though. Personally I don't think they can, as they do not have DS - the Pod does. But if we can... Blood Claws and the Inertial Guidance System could be a game winner, very fast. Hfran Morkai
Well I've read the book, don't need drop pods to deesptrike. All infantry, monstrous creatures and jetbikes can deepstrike. Only problem is that only units that have deepstrike in their codex entry can assault on the turn they arrive and no assaulting from deepstriking vehicles. So that messes up my idea of deepstriking blood claws. Everything not covered by deepstrike comes on from a table edge that you declare as your drop zone. I'm thinking several squads of grey hunters a droppping dread, some normal termies and several land speeders. Also another thing, one attacker stratagem allows you to select D3 units and count them as being equipped with assault, defensive grenades and meltabombs! Spacefrisian
I was also wondering what if you happen to be the defender and you come with pods. Might seem strange but if the opponent is able to put some templates down 1st round i wouldn't be having that much casualties. BTW also thinking of taking a Ironpriest to fill up the 12th spot within a Greyhunter pod. He only needs a stormshield (i'am a little low on dreaddroppods) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171078-planetstrike/#findComment-2022091 Share on other sites
Torin
good day brothers, Mikal have an interesting idea on deepstrike there... but im not sure how BC can deep strike without Pods. Well on normal apoc games i play, i would normally field 40 BC in 4 DP armed with flamer n melta bombs.... hehehe 40 MB. All those big vehicle will start shaking once they land... :thanks: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171078-planetstrike/#findComment-2022171 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
I'll post a 1st mock up of my list in the Army list section. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171078-planetstrike/#findComment-2022218 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Nah Blood Claws suck at planetstrike. As stated before all infantry, monstrous creatures and jetbikes simply deepstrike without the need to pay for pods. And any unit that has the deepstrike rule in their codex entry (so none of ours) can assault on the turn they land. So your Blood Claws would be able to deepstrike and shoot pistols, no assaulting. this applies even if you give them a drop pod because it says specifically no assaulting out of deep striking vehicles in the planetstrike book. I thought I would give the wolves at the fang the heads up on this. So basically our termies can't assault on the turn they deepstrike, but they can deepstrike without the pods, which means that gw have created a nasty expansion for the wolves but deep striking 30 Grey Hunters will be fun! Lord Ragnarok
Just give your claws plasma pistols and flamer. At least for me, they roll 4+ more often than I ever thought. (I play all DP army). Spacefrisian
Taking pods might be strange but if you happen to land on an enemy they must make a LD test as if they were being tankshocked. (unless i've read it wrong) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171078-planetstrike/#findComment-2022436 Share on other sites
