The Dark Guard

Since my Iron Snake sergeant, I didn't do a whole lot of painting these last few weeks. Just a bit of converting, thinking and reading....

Here's a couple of terminators from the AoBR box. They started out as Iron Snakes, but I found the theme a bit limiting. I wanted to go a bit more over the edge with these guys.

So here they are.

I'm pretty pleased with these guys, just the running one didn't come out as cool as I'd hoped. He has a bit of a girly run.

At the moment I'm thinking of painting them in this theme, but I still need to try it out so I might change my mind.

Looking good so far. Any idea on what you're going to do with the little shields on the shoulders? I've just begun painting the AoBR termies for my DIY chapter, and I'm stuck for inspiration on what to do with the shields.

Before when they were still Iron snakes it was easy. Since the terminator armour belongs to squad Skypio, I thought of doing a snake in the shape of an "S".

Now it's a bit harder, probably I'll paint up some heraldry, either for the squad or the individual warriors.

It's amazing how you took those static marines and turned them into those!

The biggest difference is just cutting them at the waist and turning the torso a bit. That makes the mini so much more dynamic.

I also like the loincloths, the legs on these guys are so spindly. The loincloth bulks out the mini somewhat. I don't know what the sculptors were thinking. "In the grim darkness of the 41 millenium, grown men have the upper legs of a 4-year old little girl."
