Vash113
I used to run one with Lightning Claws in 4th Edition but now that IC status doesn't keep the Character from being targeted and MotW keeps the character from joining a unit he's basically a huge 1 Wound points sink that can go down to a single shot without any real protection. The only way to get him into combat is in a transport or something but that wastes the transport for anyone else to ride in it and he's still just a 1 wound model. He used to be a fun little surprise hidden amongst a bunch of other infantry units, now he's just a pricey toy with a bullseye on his forehead. Coverfire
I have never used it in a Space Wolves force, only 13th Company. I would have that it was probably effective in 3rd edition when you could only shoot at the closest unit so you would trail behind a squad of Blood Claws or Grey Hunters; but 4th edition gave players the opportunity to roll a leadership test to shoot a unit other than the closest. In 5th edition you can get a cover save from intervening units but I don't think he is really worth it. He costs too many points for someone that can't do all that much. It might have been a different story if we were capable of taking Mark of the Wulfen with our Battle-Leader but as it stands [in my opinion] it is more or less useless. Grey Mage
Ive had great success with a TH+SS Wulfen. Hes wiped out entire nobz squads on several occaisions, though he sometimes dies in the attempt. On one sad occaision he died to Tau Pathfinders in CC before he could strike... but normally hes better than that. I find theres two way to get a Wulfen to work for me- keep it behind LOS blocking cover to most of my opponents shooting, and try to keep it in cover when near enemy lines. Its fluffy, and it means that if your opponent wants to deal with you hes likely striking at I 1 with you.... Though frankly he doesnt do t obad agianst marines even with their free grenades. SeanyPrawny
I ran it once and armed with a TH/SS he ran right upto a vindicator after shrugging off 2 of its shells (drawing fire from other units that were engaging troops) he planted a few good blows on the thing and took it out of the rest of the game. Good times... He even got a model made for him but although i was planning a conversion it ended up just being a chaos warrior with added fur and a wolfy hammer lol http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/4050/wulfenho8.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171251-mark-of-the-wulfen/#findComment-2024642 Share on other sites
