Crimson fists chapter champion

Hi guys,

Thought I would share this with you as it's the first model I've spent a few hours on rather than just painting to tabletop standard. He's the chapter champion and was originally designed to have an interchangable right arm, the other of which carried the MotC thunder hammer. Head is off pedro, body is a MotC, sword is BT, think right arm is MotC or Vanguard with converted hand, backpack is from the web exclusive model.

Comments welcomed.

I like the model but I think it would be better if he were pointing to a foe in a "You're next..." fashion because really, who is going to come over to a Champion of a Space Marine?

Enemy: "Who? Me? Nah, you don't want me to come over there. You must mean Frank... right?"

-vs-

Enemy: "Aw CRAP! Frank you gotta hide me! The champion says I'm next!!"

Either way, it looks very good. Dorn would be proud. :)

Hi guys, thanks for the comments - glad everyone likes it. Now I've seen the up close photos I've picked out several things that need tidying up, such as the eagle and right hand. I still haven't based him properly as I was debating whether or not to put simple grey-drybrushed sand on (like the rest of my CFs) or whether to add a severed Ork head to make him stand out - didn't want to swamp the character too much tho.

The choice of which hand to use was a tricky one. I liked the base model as it had the cape being held back by the left hand in a duelling manner and so ultimately decided it had to be the right hand I modified. Also this meant I cound interchange it with the MotC thinder hammer. Originally I had planned to use the pointing SM finger (command squad?) but as it's a lefty that was no good. I also planned to place the sword on the left disappearing beneath the cape, but as that meant chopping the nice scabbard and some of the waist detail away (as well as sculpting the sword protruding beneath the cloak) so I went for the RHS instead.

Step 2: Position a nid model right next to him such that he is scratching it under the chin. "Oh, who's a cute little killing monstrosity. YOU are, yes you are."

The white you've used as a final highlight looks a bit chalky in spots and the weathering on the metallics is not matched anywhere else on the model.

Such a shame I sold those McCragge genestealers - I'll have to wait till my next chaos/nid match up and remeber to bring a camera!!

I tried pure white as a final highlight for a change rather than blending up as I've never been quite happy with my previous results - does it stand out as being too bright? The metallics were only a single coat for the most part and so te weathering is mainly black undercoat showing through. I'm tidying him up a bit todady so I'll post pics (in the same pose as the third photo above - it's the best!) sometime with him cleaned up a bit.

Cheers all.
