Deathwing Army, WIP

Crovan

Recommended Posts

Well, a thread in the DA and the Deathwing's first outing (and win) today prompted me to do something other than the Terminator Captain model for old B. Also, I like to do an HQ or other suitable centerpiece model to get me excited about doing the rest of the army, so some kitbashing and amateur GSing later, I give you my interpretation of Belial.

I know the tabard needs work. I'm retouching it as this posts, but I wanted to get thoughts on him. Too busy?

I like him. The bitz you picked go well together, and I don't think he's too busy. My biggest problem with him is the tabard. I don't want to be too harsh, but it's going to take more than a little work to get that to look like a piece of cloth, especially if it's dried. I would look at GW examples of tabards and how they lay, especially the folds and ripples through them. I'd try some smaller scale GS work, also before you get into a tabard. My first GS was a hood, and just by doing that I was able to learn a lot about how to tease GS into realistic folds.

Here's a great GS tutorial for robes and hood (perfect for DA) :o:

Thanks for the link! I'm in the process of re-working the tabard, and I think it's looking better, already.

What are the thoughts on adding a cloak from the White Lion chariot guys from the High Elves? I think I want some kind of cloak/cape, and I happen to have one of those lying around. Would it look weird to have a fur cloak on him? I mean, the lion iconography would be ok, I think, but I'm just not sure how it will impact the total feel, and painting it against a bone colored terminator may be hard. Thoughts?
