Upcoming 1,000 points daemon fight FOUGHT TONIGHT!

In a previous thread I asked for suggestions on facing a daenmon army this week. Here is my prposed list, please C&C it!

Facing 1000 points that includes Great Unclean One, Soul Grinder, Flamers of Slaanesh, Nurglings and Daemonettes.

Well when I got there, my opponent wasn't there but another player was and that report will be in another post. Eventually my Daemonic opponent showed as did another palyer, so we set up a 2 on 2 match. I was with an Ultramarine ally while the daemons were allied with a daemon hunter force! 2500 points from both the other players, while daemon and I supplied our 1000 point units. 4 objectives.

We had to deploy first and then won the roll to go first. My partner is a far more experienced plaer than I am so I told him to lead and I would follow his plan.

Ultra moved up in a wall of Rhinos, I'm sorry I didnt make an exact list, but it was 6 rhinos with tac squads, a ven dread, regular dread, a Vindi, LandRaider and he had a terminator Librarian and termie squad in reserve. He off loaded 4 of his squads in the center of the board while I loaded my BCs into the Land Raider on the far right side wityh the rest of my wolves on the left flank.

Our enemies were deployed with a mix of IG troops, snipers and a mix of power armored and terminator gray knights. No armoror transports and the daemons were the above list with the Soul Grinder [Vinnie], the GUO [Halitosis Bob] and flamers arriving first turn. The Ultras piled out and lined up in parade ground formation but unfortunately turned out to be 2" too close [this would hurt in a minute]. My Razorback and Predator opened fire scorring a couple of kills right off and the Ultras did some damage in the middle.

Then our opponents opened up. When it was over My razor was a smoking husk and that 2" cost the greatest part of 4 ultra tac squads to det charges and great shooting . The flamers and Bob showed up on the right flank and Vinnie ported in over on the left.

Turn 2 saw us trying to pull oujr forces back in shape as the land raider rolled up towards the flamers and my forces on the left were pinned in place as mark forgot to let me move before he started shooting! Thankfully my BCs had already deployed from the raider so they opened up on the flamers, killing three. My Pred managed i laser wound on Vinnie and my ven dread took out 2 PAGK. Marks Vindi was pounding the IG units and the UM line held and started hitting back, killing several more IG and Gks. Then my BCs assaulted the flamers and wiped out all but 2 of them, thank you all for your suggestions!

Our opponents then returned the love to us by finishing off one of the depleted UM squads and moving Bob towards the BCs and damaging the land raider. The flamers failed to hurt any BCs and were finished off! The first Nurglings tried to arrive but couldnt land and went back to reserve and a unit of daemonettes was lost in their try to arrive.

Turn three saw our forces under cover on the laft from storm caller after the Pred failed to wound Vinnie and I took out some more GKs with my dreads. My Bcs fired on Bob as did the land raider but we couldnt score any damage. In the center the UMs were getting back into fighting trim, continuing to hit back and score kills. One last survivor "lucky" kept shooting and killing IGs from his position in a crater. Now the UMs 2 dreads had moved up and scored on Vinnie again. OUr assauls were limited to the BCs realizing they had to stop Bob and charging him. Many hits and finally the PF managed a wound on Bob but he killed 2 of the BCs.

Daemonettes popped up in turn three in the center of the board and ran straight for the center of the UM line. Vinnie glanced the Pred but then the GKs managed to blow it completely up. We then lost a rhino and some more Ultras, we were getting back in the fight but it was not pretty. Bob killed two more BCs without getting a scratch.

Turn 4 saw our termies and librarian arrive much to our relief.Marks dreads then finished Vinnie off. My Gray Hunjters seized one objective. Also both of my dreads got into good firing positions and really tore the GKs a new one, killing all but 2 in one squad and 1 in another. Mark finally killed the last IG snipers and his termies assault cannons began shredding our enemies daemonettes. My Bcs actually scored 2 more wounds on Bob, but then lost 2 more to his attacks but they held on, keeping him pinned in place.

Our opponents nurglings arrived again, sticking around this time over on the far left side of the boardThe left side Gks tried to damage the dreads, but accomplished nothing. Their forces pushed into the middle seizing one objective with just 2 IG troops. Bob then finished off my BCs as the daemonettes rushed Marks Ven dread but did nothing to it.

Turn 5 saw Mark teleport his termies into the fight and engage and wipe out the GK termies with combined dread and termie attacks. The vindi kept dishing out destruction and the LR opened up on Bob. Marks dread was systematically killing daemonettes and my ven dread started wiping out nurglings. My 2 GH packs and dread finished off the last Gks holding one of the objectives and almost wipe out a GK squad that tried to contest our held one. We then charges the nuglings and the last 2 GKs that dared to challenge Russ and wiped them out. The dread made a terrain move and assaulted and destroyed the last GK holding another contested objective. Mark wiped out the last of the Daemonettes and then the last of his opponents scoring troops.

The nurglings tried to destroy the ven dread but couldnt scratch him. The last of the GK heavy weapons crew destroyed the vindi but it was too little too late as the game ended with Bob failing to destroy the land raider.

Thats how it ended, with us holding 2 objectives and our opponents holding none.

I fought a daemons army not too long ago an the fight was close. I won but that was only because my opponent was a newbie. Firstly power weapons are useless. I went in there all tooled up with them and found myself with a huge chunk of useless points. Soul grinders are nasty but you only need one weapon destroyed reasult to disable its mawcannon. Daemonettes are really nasty but they are easily taken out via shooting. Plaguebearers don't do much but if there is a best unit for holding objectives in a game their it. In the game i played my rune priest and terminators held out for 5 turns against 10 plaguebearers, 10 daemonettes and 10 fleshhounds lead by karnak. My grey hunters did try to support by charging in the rear of the daemonettes but they were promptly slaughtered, Aaaagh!!! He only had 4 plaguebearers and what he called his chicken of change at the end of that visious brawl. Force weapons are also useless as there immune to instant death. Goes completely against fluff and a waist of 40 pts ;)
