Well the Sons of Russ did great saturday. I came in four out of 14, just 10 or so points from third, so no prize but I had a blast! It was my first tourney and I loved it, plan on playing in many more. It was a three round 1850pt tourney.

 

The first round I was paired up against a Guard Army. I took out one of his vendettas first round and kept the other stunned the whole game. He fielded three LR's 2xBattlecannon, 1-Demolisher and lots of other tanks. But in the end I got the points for the Marker in the middle of the table, most KP's 5-2, and cotrolling the most table Quarters.

Second round, I was paired against Black Templars. All I can say is it is not fun showing up to a table where your opponent has 5 Landraider Crusaders setting on it. It was a terrible seven rounds of I shoot your LRaiders you shoot my LRaider. The objectives moved a d6 every turn, so he moved his with his raiders as he came from his table qtr to mine. I popped one of his raiders in the fifth (with my one and only melta) and he popped mine in the same round ( after I finally failed a save). He did not disembark any of his marines until the seventh round and that was only because my BC w/PF immobilized one of his raiders and he was worried that I would pop it and another when I disembarked my WGBL w/PF and GH's. He managed to kill my RP but at the cost of my BC's killing his entire Emperor's Champions squad (he didn't realize BC's got 4 attacks on CC). I got points for most KP's 3-2 and Controlling the most table Qtr's.

 

SW 6-BT 0

 

Thrid and Final round, I was paired against Eldar. This was my favorite opponent, one Rob is a great guy and two I have tabled every Eldar Army i have played. For the first time in the tourney my opponent failed to seize the INIT from me, YAY! It started out great I blew up two of his transports and stunned two more, when I say Rob is a great guy all he did was sit back and laugh a what was happening to him, and my RP managed to pass a 3d6 Ld check to put SC on my Landraider, hate that piece of wargear he had. His dice did not like him first turn so nothing bad to me. Second round went just as bad for him, first I blew up his Fire Prism and another transport making his Fire warriors and Exark hide in cover as not to foot slog across the board. The tide turned for him at the end of the third as my dice decided they were tired and failed the Ld test for the second time killing my RP. This allowed him to pop my raider with his last lance. But I was able to rally back in the forth as my Scouts decided to show up. I was able to pull two of his squads off of their objectives by assaulting both at the same time. They died honorably for Russ but it took a third squad to kill them and none of his troop choices servived! In the end I got the points for controlling the most pieces of terrain, killing his highest point unit and the most KP's 9-2.

Troop 1- Blood Claws x8- BP x7, CCW x7, Flamer x1, PFx1, Frags

 

HQ 3- WGBL- PP, PF, Frags, WTT, WTN

Troop 2- Grey Hunters x7- CCW x7, BG x7, Frags

Rhino- SB, Search, Smoke

Lascannons and Missile Launchers at first to pop the tanks, plus my TL Autocannons x2 Dread got the kill on the Fire Prism. Took out his HQ squad with BC and Ven Dread during the 4th turn by assaulting then (we did not even roll dice because we were running short on time, so he conceeded the assault saying "There is no way any of my guys will survive all of those attacks"). Guns did nothing to his HQ squad on jetbikes they all had 3+ and a 4++ plus his HQ got to re-roll one failed save a turn. So it was, for me, a typical game against Eldar, use your big guns against his brightlance units and get in to assault to kill everything else. Plus it helped that I learned never run your dreads or tanks at fire warriors the first time I played an Eldar player.
