Eberious
Update time. Well I got the tank itself done at last work got in the way mostly, and now time to add the weapon options, fancy details (symbols,Pseals, chapter icons/embelishments.. etc etc). Gave the side sposons promethus style heavy bolters, which will also double up as hurricane stat bolters for LRC. Upgarded the single barrel lass-cannon to twin-linked lass-cannon and the front turret upgarded to a tri-linked lass-cannon. Probably just for show but if it plays well with others then might make it a re-roll re-rolls rule. Still to build the mega bolter turret, but only just finished the main bulk of the build last night with some seriously cloggy glue. Will hopefully have a fresh supply when I get home. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03486.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03487.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03488.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03489.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03490.jpg The inside is fully veiwable, really glad that worked out well. Eberious
For anyone intrested I have made the main gun for the top. The mega bolter, was planning to have just a wee stumpy one but sat to high on the top and looked very....well.....stupid and fragile. I came across a pred turret that was floating around so used that and came up with this. Also used baneblade turret sides. I would like some feed back on the progress so far guys/gals. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03491.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03492.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03493.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03497.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03502.jpg Some ye olde torches. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03500.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171670-the-gods-of-war/page/2/#findComment-2059542 Share on other sites
twomz
Looks like the TL LC blocks the Vulcan Cannon... might want to lower the LC or raise the turret up. Eberious
The lass-cannon does sit low enough for the megabolter to clear..just, just looks like its right up in the way in the pic above. But I might drop the Lcannon top plate down a little as still not 100% settled on it. xAbramx
the land raider doors behind the side-mounted guns- what do they open into? based on the interior shots it doesnt look like embarking troops could get in. Iron Phoenix
are troops loaded into the tread housing? sounds cramped! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171670-the-gods-of-war/page/2/#findComment-2060141 Share on other sites
Eberious
Theoretically the doors open as a standard LR does, troops just have a bit further to climb into the main room. And just like a standard LR the doors and linking tunnels go thru the tread housing as well. The tracks simply go over the top of the acess points/tunnels. The tunnels are no smaller than LR standard width/height and the main room is about 2cm wider. The outer doors are also more or less in line with the inside bulkheads. so I'm sorry but I don't really understand your questions?? Tybrus
Looks great! My only thought is that the top deck looks kind of barren. Looking at the pictures if the turret was offset to the right it would lar up more "Deck" to do something with " I would thing a set of Larger then normal rhino type doors to top access. I don't know just thinking here, It looks awsome as is, just think the top dek needs something to all it out a bit. Anyway can't wait to see the newest pics... Sons of Horus
the LC is totally gonna be blown away by the Vulcan Mega-Bolter  i suggest raising the main turret higher. Eberious
Cheers Sons of Horus, can't rise the turret any higher. Might look a but weird in real life as the pics don't do it any favours. Anyways, taking a break from the tank as been working on that beast for few weeks on and off and starting to do my head in. So decided to start on Odin, off to a pretty good start. Got his cloak to flow in the other direction. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03506.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03507.jpg The green stuff is a bit shiny as coated it with glue to help it harden. The outer cloth turned out good for me and its no covered in finger prints, yay. As my army will be experts in fighting Orks, I made a little effort into the base. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03509.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03511.jpg and yes thats ghazghkull mag thraka head lying there in the dirt where it belongs. And to be totaly geeky I earned the head but putting Odin up against ghazghkull. Twas close, both models down to one wound each, but Odin smyte him good. Eberious
Little update, Odins weapons. Fisrt up, strom bolter. Never liked the metal arms and shoulder pads much so chopped off the rubbish part and modded the gun arm a little. Still not sure if I should give it a melta gun upgrade or not. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03527.jpg And Odins sword. Had been looking for the blde for months and just when I was about to order a lesser sword to use I found it. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03523.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03524.jpg Let me know what you think guys/gals. crazycow
Looks good there. Just a minor point. Odin used a spear called Gungnir. He could throw it down and that would start a war. It also returned to his hand after use. Something to think about as you model him. ChaosPhoenix
I like your conversion. I'm always to stingy to buy big things to convert them :< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/171670-the-gods-of-war/page/2/#findComment-2064225 Share on other sites
Eberious
Thanks both, yeah I know what you mean ChaosPhoenix. It is risky buying expensive models to convert as one mistake or doesnt turn out well then I am some what fairly gutted and ever so slightly annoyed. Last one that went that way involved 1LR and a rhino and a small butt load of parts, now its lying in bits and being used as spares. :D Looks good there. Just a minor point. Odin used a spear called Gungnir. He could throw it down and that would start a war. It also returned to his hand after use. Something to think about as you model him. Yeah I know he has both, have home studied the norse mythology(intersting read and love it) so not just thinking its a cool idea as in "yay lets do some SM vikings" . I did concider using a spear, but I will make a spear that will be located in the tank or as an objective marker(nows theres a cool thought). Was going to convert the chaos staff that comes in the chaos terminator lords set. But favoured the sword instead. TheKav
I will make a spear that will be located in the tank or as an objective marker(nows theres a cool thought) Now there's a cool thought indeed! Just got a mental image of your Chapter Master casting his spear into the earth and challenging the heretics to come and claim it... Eberious
Thanks both. @TheKav, totaly. To rip off a 300 quote "COME AND GET IT". @Brother Tuditanu, If you mean the SM with the power fist. Then I only carved out the right hand side moldings to get the Pfist arm into position, The other SM arm fitted right into the hole molded into the cloak. But generaly if you just get rid on the 2 arm holes I guessing for the chaos warriors arms the youre good to go. Oh you'll have to cut the SM shoulder pads to fit. I used 1 shoulder pad on that model for both shoulders. Eberious
Not exactly space pups Marshal van Trapp, but not far off. In fact really tempted to just do a space wolves army, but must remain doing what I set out to do. And thanks, the Baneraider is pretty sweet much better than I thought it would be. Anyways finished Odin for the most part think he turned out pretty cool. Just the base to do, holding out for some ork skulls I want to use but might just use the ork warlord's head in previous photo above. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03617.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03620.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03618.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk270/Eberious_2008/DSC03621.jpg C&C welcome. Eberious
Cheers Hero of Helsreach, painting Odin at the moment so should have him finished next day or so. I've went for the colour scheme on the 1st page but with ...yes, yellow shoulder pads. Now I know what youre all thinking "SPACE WOLVES" and well.... pretty much yeah, why the hell not. They will still be my Gods of War(viking) SM's, and not technicaly follow the way of the space wolf. The yellow shoulders just happend to fit really well with the colour I'm using can't make any other colour match. I may only do it on guys with rank(master, captin, sarge, libby etc etc) rather than all troops as well. Will prob just do them one colour.
